Even though Sara Lance is one of the most popular Arrowverse heroes, that doesn't mean she doesn't receive any criticism from the fans. Sara became even more criticized once she took on the leading role of the Legends' captain in Legends of Tomorrow.
Reddit is then the place where people meet to discuss their less popular opinions about Sara. They focus on her various romantic relationship, her fighting skills as well as the storylines that the showrunners created for Sara. Their opinions reflect well what the show does right and where it could potentially improve.
Sara Was Better When She Was Single
Although most Legends of Tomorrow fans consider Sara and Ava a perfect couple, not everyone is so excited about this romance. One Reddit user, whose account has since been deleted, noted that: "Sara was better character when she was single and had her dark brooding nature/ fighting her demons."
It's true that there are some aspects of Sara's personality that made her stand out when she appeared on Arrow - such as her dark past or her bloodlust - have certainly diminished as time went on. However, this wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Sara has evolved as a character and it's quite possible that the relationship between her and Ava has helped her let go of the past. Sara seemed happy enough when she was single but her loving bond with Ava made her even happier and it seemed she thrived when she was no longer alone.
Other Aspects Of Sara's Life Deserve More Attention
Generally speaking, Legends of Tomorrow fans like Sara Lance but they're not always happy with the direction her story took on the show. Reddit user wildmax12 said that: "I would love to see her own plots explored, plots that created her as a character 'cause now she just talks about her scars but they were long forgotten in the show."
Even though the show puts a lot of emphasis on Sara's dark past in the future, it's not true that it's the only thing Sara has got going for her. Other than her leadership of the team and her romance with Ava, Sara has also, once again, proved what a remarkable warrior she is in the latest season. Not everybody would be able to deal with being on an alien ship but Sara did her best not to let it faze her. In other words, Sara doesn't need to talk about her past scars anymore because she won't let them stop or define her.
Sara Is The Best Because She Has No Powers
Most of the members of the team have had special powers, with a few notable exceptions, such as Mick, Ray, or Sara. Sara briefly gained special powers when she was blind but Reddit user Montavillain thinks that "Sara not having superpowers was what made her the best character on the show."
While Sara is just as great of a hero as those who have powers, it's likely that some fans will agree that introducing her precognitive abilities was quite interesting and fresh. It proved that Sara was highly adaptable and a real hero, who could just as well help her team when she had powers. If it wasn't for Sara's precognition either, it's more than likely that all of the Legends would end up getting torn apart by zombies.
Sara's Other Romances Were More Interesting
Before Sara and Ava started dating and became one of the most popular ships on Legends of Tomorrow, Sara had a lot of other successful relationships with several other Arrowverse characters. A lot of fans prefer Sara with Ava, but Reddit user wassupyallzzz thinks that this couple is overrated. They "personally really liked Sara's other past ships" - such as her romance with Nyssa, Oliver, or even her fling with Alex Danvers.
Seeing Sara date other people was interesting since it allowed the audience to get a further glimpse into her way of life. However, her relationship with Ava is by far one of the strongest couples on the show. It also shows how Sara evolved as a person and that she overcame her reluctance to form a serious, lasting relationship with someone. In the end, Sara wouldn't be who she is today if it wasn't for her love for Ava.
Sara Should Be Replaced By Mona
After Sara took over the team, she proved to be a natural captain, with a lot of authority and the determination necessary to get the job done. However, one Reddit user thinks that "Sara Lance should be replaced by Mona Wu as captain."
This would have been difficult to do since Mona has already left the show and it's unlikely she'll ever rejoin the team again, at least for a longer period of time. Mona was also shy at the beginning and only grew more confident over time, so there is a question about whether the Legends would take her seriously as a leader. Finally, Mona seemed happy with her decision to focus on writing books under Mick's pen name Rebecca Silver after Mick had retired from writing his romance novels. It would be a shame to take that away from her.
Sara Isn't A Good Leader
Despite Sara's effort to lead her team the best she can, not all fans of the show were impressed with her results. Redditor Arentanji simply stated they think that "Sara Lance really isn’t a great leader."
Sara has made many mishaps in her role as the leader of the Legends but at least unlike Rip, she was honest with her team. Sara always took responsibility for her actions and when the Legends made mistakes, Sara fought to fix them. For example, when they broke time, Sara wouldn't stop before they would fix it and made things alright once again.
Sara Could Defeat Oliver In A Fight
Despite the fact that they occasionally argued, Sara and Oliver were good friends and remained friends even after they had broken up. They never fought each other, not seriously, but Redditor Flyful thinks that: "White Canary could defeat the Arrow in a fair fight."
Both Sara and Oliver were focused on maintaining their physique and continued honing their fighting skills even after they had returned to Star City. Sara had the added advantage of training much longer with the League of Assassins but Oliver also was no slouch so any genuine fight between them would most likely be very even.
Sara Is Overrated
Sara's overall popularity is high but not everybody is so charmed by her. Reddit user RocketRacerZ thinks that Sara isn't as great as everyone says she is. As they put it: "She's not powerful, she's not smart, she's not responsible, all she does is luck her way through the various plots while her allies shill for her and her enemies job for her, making her win fights she has no right winning."
Sara has definitely faced some enemies stronger than her (such as the Legion of Doom or the Fates) and was able to come out victorious. But it's not all about luck as Sara's well trained and has a team of powerful heroes by her side on Legends of Tomorrow. All on her own, Sara probably wouldn't be able to do as much but together with the Legends, she's almost unstoppable.
