The Sinnoh region looks vastly different in Pokémon Legends: Arceus than it does in the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes, up to and including the absence of some iconic series elements like Pokémon Centers. In fact, the structure of the entire Pokémon universe showcases some changes that might surprise longtime fans of the franchise, even if the missing Pokémon Centers are one of the most immediately apparent. Where are the Pokémon Centers, and how do Pokémon get healed in Legends: Arceus without them?

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was first revealed in early 2021 during a Pokémon Presents showcase following extensive rumors of Game Freak working on an open-world Pokémon game. While the final product isn't quite as truly open-world as players were expecting, featuring distinct zones that players need to load into upon departing from the game's hub area, most of the other staple premises of the game were upheld when Legends: Arceus was released in late January of 2022.

Perhaps the most key among these is the setting of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which returns players to the Sinnoh region with the added twist of providing a glimpse into the ancient history of the Pokémon world. During the events of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Sinnoh is instead known as the Hisui region, and features unique Hisuian regional variants of Pokémon like Voltorb, Growlithe, and Goodra. Pokémon aren't the only things that have gone through some significant changes, though. The Pokédex and Poké Balls are two more examples, and the complete lack of standard infrastructure like Pokémon Centers is another factor that might throw experienced Pokémon players for a loop the first time they start up Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Where Are The Pokémon Centers In Legends: Arceus?

Why Legends Arceus Doesn't Have Pokémon Centers Heal Crafting Base Camp

In most Pokémon games, players are able to take their team to any nearby Pokémon Center in order to heal them back to full health. The Hisui region in Pokémon Legends: Arceus features none of the technologies necessary for this task, seeing as they likely haven't been invented yet given the ancient artifacts present in Legends: Arceus' Hisui region, meaning players will instead need to venture back to their base camp in order to recover their Pokémon's health or bring them back from being knocked out. Like the services offered by Pokémon Centers in other Pokémon games, healing at base camps is completely free of charge. If the player character is knocked out during a battle, they will likewise revive at the base camp. Returning to Jubilife Village, the base of operations for the Galaxy Expedition Team, also serves the same purpose, though the trip is perhaps less convenient.

Of course, players also have the option to heal their Pokémon during battle rather than waiting to return to base camp after every individual fight. An interesting distinction, though, is the fact that staple items like Revives and Potions can be crafted in Legends: Arceus rather than simply bought. As players journey around the Hisui region, they can collect items like berries which can then be refined at workbenches into helpful items to be used during battle. It's through mechanics like this that the developers of Pokémon Legends: Arceus help give the game its distinct setting and storyline, allowing it to stand out in a franchise that's oftentimes known for being overly familiar.
