The Cobalt Coastlands is the third area that Pokémon Legends: Arceus will explore, and this sunny seaside region is open to players after they reach Star Rank Three. With the help of Basculegion, which can be summoned as a mount to surf across the seas, players can encounter all kinds of Water-Type Pokémon in this part of the map. The semi-open world of Legends: Arceus brought a ton of changes to the Pokémon series, and Pokémon can now be found roaming freely throughout Hisui. Players will now have to carefully consider their strategy and use a variety of tactics when approaching wild Pokémon.
People and Pokémon haven’t become partners yet in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and they’ll often attempt to fight or flee when they see a trainer heading their way. Each species of Pokémon has its own temperament, and players will often have to sneak up or battle Pokémon to make them easier to catch. Players can also choose from a variety of Poké Balls that give them certain advantages when combined with the right approach, such as the Heavy Ball, which improves the chances of catching a Pokémon players have managed to sneak up on. Items like Berries and Smoke Bombs can come in handy as well, and players should be sure to bring the items they need for adventuring on each of their expeditions.
There are 72 species of Pokémon in the Cobalt Coastlands area of Hisui, but Pokémon Legends: Arceus players will also encounter much more powerful Pokémon known as Alpha Pokémon on their journey. Alpha Pokémon are significantly bigger and stronger than the other members of their species, not to mention more aggressive, which makes them incredibly difficult to defeat and catch. However, with the right strategy, players can not only survive their Alpha encounters but catch the Alpha Pokémon as well. Since Pokémon can attack players directly in Legends: Arceus, players will have to exercise caution when approaching an Alpha Pokémon as taking too much damage will cause them to black out, and players always have the option of simply running from the fight to return and try again another time.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus - All Pokémon In Cobalt Coastlands
Along with the plethora of Water-Type Pokémon that make the Cobalt Coastlands their home, Pokémon Legends: Arceus players will also find plenty of Fire-Types on Firespit Island located in this region as well. Once players progress far enough, they will also be able to encounter several of the game's Legendary Pokémon, including Giratina, Manaphy, and Phione, all of which can be caught and added to the party. It’s important to note that some Pokémon will only appear at certain times of the day or under specific circumstances, so trainers will have to familiarize themselves with each Pokémon’s behavior in order to complete their entries in the Pokédex.
Trainers will also encounter a rare phenomenon known as Space-Time Distortions, which appear throughout the region and bring rare Pokémon spawns with them. These strange purple spheres appear in every area of the map, but the Pokémon that spawn in each region differ, so players will be able to catch rare Pokémon unique to the Cobalt Coastlands if they’re able to reach the Space-Time Distortion before it disappears again. Space-Time Distortions only last for a limited amount of time, but Pokémon Legends: Arceus alerts players when one is about to form nearby. Like Alpha Pokémon, the rare Pokémon that spawn in these Distortions are often strong and will even gang up on the player if there’s more than one, so players should be prepared for battle before they enter.

In order to complete the Hisuian Pokédex, players will have to do various Research Tasks in addition to simply encountering and catching each Pokémon. By observing their behavior and interacting with them in the wild, players can compose detailed notes about each Pokémon to create the first-ever Pokédex, making it well worth the effort to complete each one. The Pokédex is more important than ever in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, allowing players to help make history as they explore ancient Hisui and encounter its many Pokémon.
