During the recent Pokémon Day festivities, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon Legends: Arceus would receive a free content update, which includes a new feature called Massive Mass Outbreaks. Alongside some other content in the Daybreak update, which dropped February 27, Massive Mass Outbreaks take Legends: Arceus' semi-trigger-able Mass Outbreaks to another level. In addition to simply having more Pokémon, Massive Mass Outbreaks offer different species to battle and catch than regular Mass Outbreaks.
Daybreak is the first post-launch content update for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and looks to address player concerns with endgame content. There are a handful of new Requests players can tackle, most of which deal with the Massive Mass Outbreaks themselves. There are also more trainer battles to take part in at Jubilife Village's training grounds. As an added bonus, any Legends: Arceus players who have downloaded the Daybreak update have a chance to enter the code, "ARCEUSADVENTURE," into the Mystery Gifts menu to receive free Poké Balls - 30 Ultra Balls, 30 Gigaton Balls, and 30 Jet Balls. The code for free Poké Balls is only valid until March 31, though, and will come in handy when completing every Pokémon Legends: Arceus Pokédex entry or taking on the Massive Mass Outbreaks.
In the most basic of terms, Massive Mass Outbreaks are just multiple Mass Outbreaks at once, and are only available to those who have finished the Legends: Arceus main story. Players will need to head to the Obsidian Fieldlands and find Mai of the Diamond Clan at the Heights Camp (there will be a New Request icon on the map). She'll enlist the player for "Request 95 - A New Anomaly," and ask the player to investigate the latest Hisuian phenomenon on Ramanas Island. This first Request will start a string of endgame side quests where the player investigates Massive Mass Outbreaks in each of Pokémon Legends: Arceus' empty environments.
Every Massive Mass Outbreak Pokémon In Obsidian Fieldlands
The Obsidian Fieldlands are where the first Massive Mass Outbreak occurs, and the subsequent Requests will move players on to Hisui's other sub-regions, but players can always return to see different Pokémon en masse. Like regular Mass Outbreaks, the chance of having one occur is random, but traveling to and from Jubilife Village to Obsidian Fieldlands repeatedly will eventually trigger a Massive Mass Outbreak. Although there's some overlap the Pokémon for regular Mass Outbreaks in Crimson Mirelands, they are not all the same as those that appear in Massive Mass Outbreaks. The same can be said for the other regions, which also have variation. While Massive Mass Outbreaks are newer and offer more Pokémon to catch or battle, regular Mass Outbreaks are still possible, and continue to be represented on the map by the image of the Pokémon that is currently in abundance.

Once players have retraced their steps through the Hisui region chasing Massive Mass Outbreaks, the last stop for a Request will be Alabaster Icelands. Here is where players have the only chance of seeing Hisuian variants of Braviary and Avalugg in a Massive Mass Outbreak. This will also be a good spot to get Legends: Arceus starter Oshawott and its two evolutions.

Legends: Arceus makes catching Shiny Pokémon easy, but the odds of finding one in a Massive Mass Outbreak are unfortunately lower than in regular Mass Outbreaks. Those looking for Alpha Pokémon will want to keep an eye out for Outbreak map icons with a star on them. Clearing those Outbreaks will result in a second wave, where either the evolved form of the cleared Pokémon, or Alpha Pokémon will appear instead. There's only a limited amount of time to do so, however, since the Massive Mass Outbreak will end once the stormy weather conditions cease. With Pokémon Legends: Arceus' first major post-launch update, Massive Mass Outbreaks are making it much easier to finish the Pokédex.
