The Alabaster Icelands is the fifth and final area trainers reach in Pokémon Legends: Arceus as they adventure through Hisui, and the Pokémon that inhabit the snowy fields are as harsh as the climate itself. This frigid region is home to many Ice-Type Pokémon that thrive in its wintry conditions, but trainers will need to reach Fifth Star Rank and calm the first four Frenzied Noble Pokémon before they can access it. Catching Pokémon is more complex in Pokémon Legends: Arceus than in previous games in the series, and players will have to use a variety of strategies as they approach the free-roaming Pokémon that live in Hisui.
Hisui’s northern tundra is not only home to some of the highest-level Pokémon in the game, but there’s also less tall grass for players to hide in thanks to the blankets of snow, which makes sneaking up on Pokémon more difficult. Crafted items like Smoke Bombs and Stealth Spray can keep trainers concealed, while Cake Lures and Sticky Globs can lure and stun Pokémon to make them easier to catch. Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Agile Style and Strong Style moves can also be used strategically in battle as players catch or defeat Pokémon to complete Research Tasks for the Hisui Pokédex.
In addition to regular wild Pokémon, players can battle and catch the powerful Alpha Pokémon that roam the Alabaster Icelands, which are much larger and more aggressive. Alpha Pokémon are distinguishable by their size and glowing red eyes, and while they’re more challenging to catch than normal Pokémon, they’re some of the strongest allies a trainer can add to their team in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Players can also earn Grit Items and EXP Candies to strengthen their Pokémon by catching and defeating Alpha Pokémon. Fortunately, Alphas respawn after the player returns to Jubilife Village, so players can challenge them as often as they want.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus - All Pokémon In The Alabaster Icelands
Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Alabaster Icelands area has more Ice-type Pokémon than any other location in Hisui, but there are a variety of other types of Pokémon that can be caught in the area as well. Some Pokémon only appear at certain times of the day or during specific weather conditions, and others become catchable as part of a Story Mission or Request that the player must accept first. Each species can be found in specific subregions within the Alabaster Icelands, and players will have to visit every area of the map to catch every Pokémon for the Pokédex.
Occasionally, a Space-Time Distortion will appear in Hisui, bringing a variety of rare Pokémon and valuable Shards with it. These purple pocket dimensions appear at random in every area of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but the Pokémon that spawn in each area vary, and some can only be caught in the Alabaster Iceland’s Space-Time Distortions. The Pokémon inside are usually at a much higher level than the other Pokémon in the area, and they tend to spawn as a group, so players will have to be prepared with a strong team before entering if they want to catch the Pokémon inside. As trainers complete the Hisui Pokédex in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they’ll not only have to catch the many Pokémon that inhabit the Alabaster Icelands, but they’ll also have to complete research tasks that document their behaviors as well. Defeating Pokémon in battle, observing specific moves, feeding them, and evolving them can all contribute to the completion of each Pokédex entry. Catching more Pokémon per excursion will also increase the amount of Pokédollars earned, and Pokémon that players release from their pastures will leave Grit Items behind as well. Pokémon Legends: Arceus makes catching ‘em all more important than ever before, giving players the chance to become part of Pokémon’s history itself as they compile the region’s first-ever Pokédex.
