Fans of The Legend Of Zelda have found a very creative way to troll Nintendo after it decided to block the Ocarina of Time soundtrack in its entirety from YouTube. While onlookers may find the Legend of Zelda fans' actions petty, Nintendo's recent actions are more than deserving of a little harmless trolling.

On December 8, video game soundtrack archivist GilvaSunner reported that Nintendo had blocked the soundtracks for Super Mario 64, Mario Kart Wii, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time from YouTube. Nintendo had done so without providing any alternative method of listing to these soundtracks online, which greatly upset fans of the series. GilvaSunner has been archiving game soundtracks on YouTube for several years without monetizing said videos, but Nintendo seemingly doesn't want anyone listening to these soundtracks outside of when they are heard in-game.

As a retaliation to blocking these soundtracks, gamers dug up a tweet from the official Nintendo UK Twitter account from over a year ago. The tweet was Nintendo UK asking Legend of Zelda fans what their favorite piece of music was from the series. Users have been spamming the replies to the 2019 tweet with screenshots of YouTube's "Video unavailable" screen which states that the video has been removed by Nintendo due to copyright claims. The majority of these troll replies are accompanied by humorous captions as if the image were of a still-existing video.

While Nintendo is completely within its legal right to remove their intellectual property from any platform, this is only the most recent instance in a series of disappointing actions from the family-friendly gaming company. Nintendo has done an effective job of dragging its own name through the mud over the past month by canceling large tournaments, discontinuing support for certain titles, and removing harmless mod showcases. Some of the major targets of these actions have been the Super Smash Bros. and Splatoon communities.

For a company that has such a loving and supportive fanbase, it's dumbfounding why Nintendo continues to perform such alienating actions. As a game developer, Nintendo can produce some of the best titles of the modern era of gaming, but its public relations needs a lot of work. What's even sadder is that Nintendo fans don't have anywhere to turn to experience the same type of games that Nintendo provides, so they will have to suffer through these grand disappointments while continuing to support the company that lets them down.
