With the holidays around the corner, a new The Legend of Zelda Christmas album has been making the rounds on the internet, combining everyone’s favorite Hylians and the wonders of Christmas. Along with the recent release of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, this will only bring on more joy for the Legend of Zelda series this Christmas season. With how beautiful the music in the series is already, it seems like a perfect fit for all kinds of orchestral arrangements.

While there has been news of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 being in production, this sort of album is exactly what fans need to soothe their wants for new Zelda material. This is the second time that Materia Collective, has released a Zelda-inspired album, only this time being combined with traditional holiday genres, along with inclusions of choirs and orchestras to make it sound all the more magical.

The album, titled A Merry Hyrule Christmas, features plenty of familiar names that Zelda fans might know from recent games or ones from the past, as reported by Nerdist. There are also fun little puns on classic Christmas carols, such as Silent Knight or Din Rest Ye Merry Deku Scrubs. The goal of the album was to be able to mash up familiar Christmas carols with songs and themes from the Zelda games and the Kingdom of Hyrule.

In a statement from the producer, Eric Buchlolz, he said that his goal was to make an album of video game music, but could also blend easily into the classic holiday tunes that people love to listen to this time of year. His favorite thing was that kids would be able to "trick" their family into listening to video game music “without them realizing it.”

Some first reactions to the album have shown that it’s been taken positively by the Zelda community. With the holidays coming up, many children and adults alike are probably going to be stepping into the world of The Legend of Zelda, whether that be for the first time on Breath of the Wild, or possibly continuing the story with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. However, newcomers and long-time fans will likely find something to enjoy in A Merry Hyrule Christmas. And hopefully in the near future, Materia Collective be able to make another version with the beautiful music from Breath of the Wild 2 - whenever that may release.
