[SPOILERS ahead for those not caught up on Legends of Tomorrow.]

-

The Arrowverse shows have never been afraid of introducing a number of major comic book characters in a short timespan, but no show has ever been quite as ambitious in that regard as Legends of Tomorrow has. Focusing on an immense main cast as it is, the series has also featured a fluctuating number of other recurring supporting characters, as well as the introduction of other notable teams like the Justice Society of America, and the soon-to-be Legion of Doom. Even with all of those characters being introduced this season though, the show's main team of Legends also faced the loss of a key member in its premiere.

That member, of course, being Arthur Darvill's Rip Hunter, who disappeared in the premiere episode after the team managed to prevent nuclear war in 1942. Since then, the character has been entirely absent from the series, forcing the crew of the Waverider to adjust to his absence - and specifically, Caity Lotz's Sara to step up as the new leader of the team.

However, some new set photos (via Hollywood North) from the show's upcoming 11th episode, titled "Turncoat", may have possibly spoiled Hunter's return. The images, which you can see below, feature a number of actors all dressed up like British redcoats from the Revolutionary War, and leading the charge seems to be none other than Arthur Darvill himself. Check out the photos below:

These photos also come just after executive producer Marc Guggenheim released the title of "Turncoat" last week, which led many at the time to believe that there would either be a major betrayal in the series, or that it would see the Waverider team heading back in time to the Revolutionary War. Based on these photos, it looks like the latter was true, but how Darvill's Rip Hunter factors into all of this will have to wait to be seen - especially considering the cause of his absence and his whereabouts since disappearing have been kept entirely secret throughout the season so far.

This week's upcoming episode of Legends will be focusing entirely on concluding the Heroes vs. Aliens crossover event it seems like, which means it's likely Legends won't be getting back to its main story until next week. So with all of that being said, whether or not "Turncoat" ends up being Darvill's long-awaited return to the series, or if he comes back in one of the episodes before then is still a mystery. Right now, we know that the team is set to take on the entire Legion of Doom, finally, before "Turncoat," and it'll be interesting to see how well they fare against the supervillain team-up without their Time Master captain. Either way, it looks like it's only a matter of time until the Legends' lineup is made right once again.

‘Invasion!’ continues with The Flash tonight, Arrow on Wednesday, and Legends of Tomorrow on Thursday.
