The main villains from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween have never shared screen time, but in a battle to the death, who would win?

In order to name a victor between these two very human monsters, it's important to consider a few facets. First of all, Michael Myers has had a few iterations, and his canon tends to take a few, distinct paths. Here, the face-off is between Carpenter's canon Michael Myers and Leatherface. A different version of Myers was affected by the Thorn Cult, which dictated his murderous actions. In Halloween 4-6it's discovered that Myers has been subjected to a blood curse that compels him to murder his entire family. To assist in this endeavor, Myers gained supernatural, superhuman powers that increased his physical strength, durability, and leaves him under the Thorn's control until the deed is carried out.

Leatherface has always been mortal, which is possibly one of his most terrifying aspects. There's nothing particularly grandiose about him; he's just a simple, dedicated family man. These two are quite evenly matched, but who would emerge victorious?

Leatherface: Powers and Abilities

Leatherface in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Leatherface, whose real name is Bubba Sawyer (though different movie canon has suggested his name is Jedidiah) is the youngest brother of the murderous, cannibalistic Sawyer clan. Born and raised in the backwoods of Texas, Bubba was raised to follow the rules put in place by his brothers and grandparents. Bubba has a developmental delay and it's implied that he's a result of inbreeding, as were many of the Sawyer family. Over time, due to his increased strength and massive size, he became the family's muscle. He also worked at a slaughterhouse, where his job was butchering cattle. The Sawyers run a gas station and have a habit of picking up strays for the sole purpose of having them for dinner, and not in a hospitable sort of way.

Bubba is a large man (the original actor who portrayed the character, Gunnar Hansen, was 6'4") with a powerful build and strength enough to easily lift a person and place them on a meat hook. What he lacks in cunning and the ability to plan out his kills he makes up for with sheer grit, determination, and loyalty. Tobe Hooper has stated Leatherface doesn't kill out of rage, he kills out of fear and self-defense. He's may not be entirely cold-hearted like some killers, but he does what is necessary to ensure his family's survival and safety. His primary weapon, a chainsaw, is more than capable of dispatching bodies with brutal ease, but he's also been known to wield a sledgehammer, and does so skillfully.

Michael Myers: Powers and Abilities

Michael Myers 2018 Close Up

Michael Myers was raised in a seemingly normal, suburban family in Haddonfield, Illinois. On October 31, 1963, he brutally murdered his older sister, Judith, when he was a boy of only six years old. In Carpenter's Halloween canon, Michael is intended to be evil that has taken human form, with nothing superhuman about him. In the original script for Halloween, Myers was primarily referred to as "The Shape". After being imprisoned in an institution, Myers spent his formative years planning his escape, which he achieved on October 30th, 1978. He returned to Haddonfield and stalked Laurie Strode, then murdered most of her friends on Halloween night. After being shot by his former psychiatrist, Myers was taken into custody, where he waited forty years (Halloween 2018) before escaping once more, presumably to tie up loose ends.

As "The Shape", Myers is known for his abilities to stalk his victims and pursue them, tirelessly, never striking until he has the perfect opening for the kill. He's swift and lethal, typically employing a butcher knife to carry out his murders, but he has been known to be resourceful and use other weapons - or everyday household objects, such as a telephone cord - to murder if that's what is most convenient. Myers always seems to savor the kill and indulge in the thrill of it; he's more hunter than brute, and his cunning make up for what he lacks in stature, since he is of average height and build. Myers is calculating and kills for sport.

And The Winner Is...

Ultimately, the victor would be Leatherface. Since Leatherface kills out of self-defense and for self-preservation, he would throw his all behind a fight with Myers and physically is more powerful. Myers could easily outsmart him and likely has the stamina to outrun him, but he's cool-headed and possibly too cocky to try to escape. In the end, it could boil down to Myers being over-confident in his abilities and relishing the kill too much that he might underestimate a man who is more wounded animal than human.
