A DC League of Super Pets producer has confirmed that the film, starring Dwayne Johnson as Krypto the Superdog, will feature several easter eggs to the original DC C0mics. The film, centered on Superman's (John Krasinski) dog Krypto, will see the super-powered canine assemble a team of extraordinary pets to face a new threat in the absence of the Justice League. The film gathers an all-star cast, including Johnson's long-time collaborator Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound.

In an interview with Collider, producer Hiram Garcia has confirmed the film will feature several references to DC comics. Garcia serves as president of production at Johnson's company Seven Bucks Productions, which has also been involved with other DC Films related to Johnson such as Shazam! and the upcoming debut of the actor in the DCEU, playing the titular Black Adam. When speaking about these films, Garcia said "It's one of the great things to do when you're making these movies, is making sure you're looking all around because it's really fun to drop Easter eggs all over a movie."

DC League of Super Pets

The trailer has already given fans a look at this version of the DC comics world, including the Justice League, but it is safe to assume there will be several deep cuts in the film itself. Easter eggs and references have become more common in blockbusters, most likely due to fans of the source material being of an age and position of power where they are making the creative decisions to harken back to the material they love. Much like every Marvel or DC films before it, fans will surely be in for some small delights and callbacks when DC League of Super Pets releases later this year.
