Riot has revealed League of Legends’ newest character, Renata Glasc, in a dedicated gameplay trailer menacingly narrated by the champion herself who is powerful enough to make players attack their own allies. Renata is the next addition to the popular MOBA’s roster of heroes following the recent emergence of Zeri.

League of Legends’ Zeri has already been available for quite a while, and it didn’t take players long to realize that the newest character has an obvious weak spot. Although a highly maneuverable, rapidly moving hero, Zeri deals a disturbingly low amount of damage. By no means can Zeri be considered an offensive one, but more of an evasive bait while the rest of the team deals some proper damage to the enemy squad.

Another new character to join the popular MOBA this winter is Renata Glasc that’s been revealed in the latest League of Legends gameplay trailer on YouTube. The hero belongs to a support class with various means of buffing teammates. Renata’s auto attacks mark opponents and allow allies to deal additional damage upon hitting marked foes. Her Handshake ability makes Renata's robotic arm fire like a missile, rooting the first enemy hit and launching them away upon reactivating the ability to damage enemies on the way and stun champions. The second ability, Bailout, buffs either Renata or an ally with attack and move speed allowing to reset the buff with successful enemy champion takedowns. If an ally dies under the effect of the buff, they respawn with full yet rapidly decaying health for three seconds to keep fighting and can stay alive if they manage to kill an enemy during that time. Renata’s third ability, Loyalty Program, is a rocket swarm that shields her and every passing ally while damaging and slowing affected enemies.

The most fun, however, is the ultimate ability. Renata launches a toxic wave that makes enemy champions fight each other, which is somewhat of an ironic power considering the actual toxicity of the League of Legends community. In 2022, it still remains an issue, even though Riot has introduced a number of measures to combat toxicity. One of the latest solutions was to completely remove in-game chat to prevent teams from offensive interaction between them. The endgame chat, however, remained unaffected, allowing the opposing forces to share their last-minute emotions.

Despite offering over 150 unique characters to choose from, League of Legends is far from being done with new champions. The recent example of Renata Glasc clearly demonstrates that there’re still numerous unexplored mechanics to be used as a foundation for heroes’ abilities. Although a support character, Renata is emphasizing offensive tactics, which will probably make her quite a popular pick in matches. This theory will be put to test on February 15 when Renata Glasc is introduced to League of Legends.
