Every single character in League of Legends will be getting a tanky boost in an upcoming update. League of Legends' character roster currently contains over 150 heroes, each falling into a variety of classes and having their own backstory. Therefore an update that tackles so many individual champions will be no small feat to implement into the game.

Character stat updates such as this, as long as they are balanced well, are a great way to keep gameplay fresh and interesting. Other online games such as Overwatch initially suffered from a lack of changes to characters and gameplay, making it difficult for players to choose their favorite characters without either getting grief from their teammates or getting killed too quickly by the other team. This is why paying attention to developer and community feedback is an essential way for developers to keep things balanced and playable, which is what League of Legends' devs are attempting to do with this patch.

Riot has revealed what it is calling the "Champion Durability Update," coming in League of Legends patch update 12.10, which will improve how much damage every character can take. As reported by GamesRadar, this update is the result of both LoL's developers and community agreeing that "there is currently too much damage" during gameplay. Along with some small adjustments to sustain-based states and map objectives, making the characters more durable for matches to last longer and keep matches from getting too frustrating is the main goal of the patch. However, this League of Legends update news has come a bit suddenly, which is unusual considering how many characters are being affected. This big of a change may lead to a dramatic change in matches, which is why Riot promises to keep a "close eye on the changes over the coming weeks."

Rebuilding League of Legends champions to take more damage, and thus last longer in each match, should ideally mean that champions will be able to survive long enough to deal more damage as well. This should make matches last longer, and perhaps give newer players a better chance to make a difference for their team. Riot also hopes that this will encourage players to work together more, as achieving kills in League of Legends will be more difficult for solo fans to achieve.

However this update plays out in-game, players will have quite a bit of adapting to do now that everyone is more difficult to kill. With luck, the update will go the way Riot's developers want, and players can focus less on simply surviving and more on working together to get kills and make progress in League matches. Either way, League of Legends is looking at big changes soon.
