A new League of Legends client-side bug is popping up across social media, with players reporting that the skins they are choosing pre-game are not being used when loaded into the match. This bug seems to be following a recent patch made by Riot to the game last week.

League of Legends is one of the world’s biggest MOBAs, which are multiplayer online battle arena games where teams of players face off against each other in an attempt to destroy the other’s base. League of Legends currently has over 150 champions to choose from, all of which with various themed skins and emotes to buy. Players can purchase skins for champions in League of Legends to show off in the game. Certain skins are quite expensive and can be used to flex a player's status as a fan of a particular champion.

A post on the League of Legends subreddit on Reddit by user Paperbagfham has confirmed the existence of a bug in the PC client of the game, where a champion skin selected in the pre-game lobby in the client was not loaded when the player entered into the game. The proof was shown in a Twitch recording, with the clip capturing the whole process from the champion selection, skin selection, loading into the match, and then the moment the streamer notices that the skin they selected was not picked, but another one altogether. The incorrect skin was even displayed on the loading screen, as League of Legends has unique loading portraits for each champion skin in the pre-game screen.

Online reports of this bug only seem to trace back a few days, following the recent patch that went live on April 28. This patch nerfed a whole bunch of characters and balanced out some weaker ones. Some items were also altered in the League of Legends patch, keeping to Riot’s aim to mix up the meta every few weeks. This patch included a number of new skins added to the game and shop, but this is nothing new. Skins are often added in patches, so why this patch, in particular, seems to have caused this bug to affect players is unknown.

Riot has not yet addressed the bug or publicly recognized the issue in any form. While players have been asking for a randomized skin option in League of Legends game for some time now, this was certainly not what they intended. Hopefully, Riot will see the fans posting about the League of Legends bug online and have a fix rolled out soon enough.
