Law & Order: Organized Crime has been renewed by NBC for a second season. The show is the latest series of the Dick Wolf Law & Order franchise, spinning off of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and featuring the return of Elliot Stabler after a decade-long absence. The show also stars Dylan McDermott, Tamara Taylor, Danielle Moné Truitt, and Ainsley Seiger. Stabler leads an organized crime unit tasked with bringing down powerful crime syndicates while he is also finding out how much the system has changed since his departure.
Deadline now reports that Law & Order: Organized Crime will be looking at a second season renewal. The announcement comes after the show has an aired its second crossover episode with SVU, which features Stabler's former partner, Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay. Organized Crime airs on its Thursday night primetime slot right after SVU, which is on its 22nd season and is the franchise's most successful series. It is currently on a three-year renewal from NBC since its last season, bringing the total number of seasons up to 24.
Meloni played Stabler for the first twelve seasons of SVU before leaving the show due to contract disputes. But since the announcement of the spinoff series, fans have been enjoying seeing Stabler back on their television screens and his reunions and storylines with Benson. Law & Order: Organized Crime saw Stabler on the road to recovery after a sudden attack on his family that resulted in the death of his wife, which was ordered by McDermott's character, Richard Wheatley. Meloni has teased the two characters facing off in the upcoming season finale, and with a second season renewal, fans can be assured that there will be more tense storylines to come.
