Warning: Potential spoilers for The Last of Us television series below.

New set photos from the upcoming HBO survival horror television series The Last of Us tease a pivotal hospital scene. Based on the 2013 Naughty Dog video game of the same name, the 10-episode series will focus on hardened survivor Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) as he treks across a post-apocalyptic zombie-infested United States to deliver Ellie (Bella Ramsey) to the militant faction known as the Fireflies. There, the rogue group hopes to synthesize a cure for the fungal infection plaguing the world through Ellie's natural immunity.

Created by Chernobyl's Craig Mazin and original The Last of Us video game co-creator Neil Druckmann, the upcoming show is currently being shot in Calgary, Canada, with many of its streets doubling for cities in the United States. Recent set photos have shown violent scavengers known as Hunters chase Joel through the streets of Kansas City, a location reportedly changed from the game's original city of Pittsburgh. Multiple videos and photos from the sets have shown a high level of accuracy with the series' adaptation of the source material, and the new images of the hospital continue that trend.

Recent The Last of Us set photos shared by @HBOsTheLastofUs on Twitter show a dressed hospital interior that will most likely serve as the location for a pivotal scene. In the original game, Joel and Ellie eventually reach their destination and locate the Firefly hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. After nearly drowning on their way there, Joel wakes up in the dark hospital with Firefly leader Marlene (Merle Dandridge) who informs him that Ellie is being prepped for an operation and that the young girl must die in order for the vaccine to be created. In an act of love and selfishness, Joel fights his way to the operating room, kills the doctors, and saves Ellie's life, but robs the world of a cure. Check out the images of the hospital set below.

The set photos portray an accurate representation of Saint Mary's hospital in the original game. Complete with distressed hallways, ammunition boxes, and bloodstains, the set fully realizes the grimy and claustrophobic interiors of the final The Last of Us level. The production reportedly shot the location in a hospital that is currently still in use.

The original The Last of Us game was released to much fanfare and critical acclaim in 2013. Its familiar yet bold story resonated with audiences, but its gut-wrenching ending propelled the game to a level of storytelling rarely exhibited in the medium. If the upcoming HBO series can emulate a fraction of the succinct heart-wrenching tale that sold over 20 million copies worldwide, then newcomers to the franchise are in for a treat.
