New images have revealed how HBO's The Last of Us series will be bringing the game location of Jackson, Wyoming to life. The Last of Us was originally released in 2013 and details the travails of Joel Miller, a gruff man who befriends a girl named Ellie. The pair travels across the wasteland of the United States, which is ravaged by "clickers," a horde of zombie-like beings infected with a mutant fungus. The series is currently filming, with an expected air date in 2022. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are starring alongside Anna Torv, Murray Bartlett, Gabriel Luna, and Natasha Mumba as original character Kim Tembo.

The game follows Ellie and Joel's journey through a variety of real locations across the United States of America. Throughout the game, the duo progress through many recognizable cities including Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Boulder, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah in addition to Jackson, Wyoming. The game's prologue also details Joel's experience at the beginning of the apocalypse outside Austin, Texas, but by the time the story picks up again 20 years later, he is working as a smuggler in Boston. Both of those cities have already been confirmed to appear via The Last of Us set photos.

A Last Of Us HBO account on Twitter unearthed details of one of the series' locations. Beginning November 15, HBO will begin shooting in the town of Canmore, Alberta, which is doubling for the in-game location of Jackson, Wyoming. The images are slightly low-res, but they are digital mock-ups detailing the city's main gates, animal paddocks, and the town square decorated for Christmas. Check out the images below:

In the world of the game, Jackson is one of the last contained communities that has managed to keep the infected at bay. The town is run by Joel's brother Tommy and his wife Maria and is also the location of a major character moment for Ellie and Joel on their journey. The location is also an important element of The Last of Us II, should the series continue on to adapt that game as well.

It is currently unknown if Jackson will be the location for more than one episode in the season. However, The Last of Us is one of the biggest television productions in Canadian history. This means that fans can expect that the far-reaching journey of Ellie and Joel will be brought to life in the most thorough possible way.
