A player has discovered what appears to be the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin from The Office while exploring the post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us: Part 1. Naughty Dog's The Last of Us remake released on PS5 at the beginning of September, bringing a host of visual upgrades to its seminal 2013 release, while a PC version has also been confirmed.

Naughty Dog has never been shy about hiding plenty of Easter eggs in its games for players to find. From references such as finding a Precursor Egg from Jak & Daxter, paintings of several of the main characters from Monkey Island, and mentioning the fictional country of Arstotzka from Papers, Please - all in the Uncharted series - to finding a PS3 with several copies of Naughty Dog games in The Last of Us, Naughty Dog seems to love hiding clever references to things.

A TikTok user by the name of rxelei was playing The Last of Us: Part 1 and looking for a place to hide from enemies in what seemed like just a random office building. However, while continuing Joel and Ellie's TLOU: Part 1 adventure, rxelei noticed the layout of the office looked exactly like the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin from The Office. In the video, rxelei points out the spots of what would have been Michael Scott's office, Pam's reception desk, Dwight's desk, and even the black couch in the lobby. Each one fits perfectly with the set of The Office, and while it's unclear if this was an intentional Easter Egg in TLOU, the similarities are unmistakable.

Last Of Us Office Easter Egg Implies Grim Ending For Dunder Mifflin

The Last of Us: Part 1 - The Best Weapon Upgrades to Get First

The Last of Us sharing a universe with The Office is both a hilarious and terrifying thought. Just like the rest of the world within TLOU, the office that rxelei found is a complete disaster. There's dirt and grime everywhere, the couches are stacked up near the entrance as if trying to keep something from getting in, and there's even a dead body with the head missing lying on the ground. (Most probably Toby.) For a more optimistic take, perhaps the Scranton Branch is thriving in TLOU's post-apocalypse. Maybe Dwight's martial arts and Jim's mind for office pranks finally found some real use and gave them and some of their coworkers a fighting chance. After that, there could be a chance they managed to make it all the way to Schrute Farms and bunkered down for a while, as Dwight began to build a new empire with him at the top.

Whether this office was intentionally laid out to resemble Dunder Mifflin or not is a mystery, but it does inspire some dark yet fun "what if" scenarios by wondering how Michael Scott and the rest of his coworkers would do against all the Clickers. Easter eggs are plentiful in TLOU remake, so it's great to see that The Office is one of them. Maybe there are still more references yet to be found in The Last of Us: Part 1.
