Quick Links

The Seattle portion of The Last of Us 2's story feels like a small open world where Ellie and Dina can explore the destroyed metropolis for supplies by learning every code to areas locked by gates. The long highway and compact buildings create a large space to track down various items. However, the only clue to reaching these spots is through a hidden area somewhere in the city.

Although Ellie and Dina arrive in Seattle on horses, you won't be able to barge through gates without searching a bit on foot. Finding a map of Seattle should be your goal if you want to stock up on supplies available in this area of TLOU 2. Be careful as you travel, and ensure not to disturb infected or other enemies as you investigate different buildings.

Don't worry about running out of inventory space as you travel from place to place since Ellie's backpack can hold unlimited collectibles and other items.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is a relatively small graphical leap, but a host of new additions make it an attractive rerelease for longtime fans.

The Last of Us 2 Gate Codes Location

Grabbing the Seattle map reveals both an image of the larger city and a grid of Downtown where you and Dina can go to figure out each gate code. Scale the front gate of the area and look for an office trailer nearby. This is one of the few buildings you can explore in TLOU 2, but you need to shatter the glass to get in here since the main door to the structure is locked.

Inside the trailer, you should be able to find a filing cabinet that Ellie can pry open. A piece of paper inside has all of the gate codes listed on it, which include:

GATE

CODE

North 0

1382

Main Gate

0512

East 2

5345

West 1

6128

West 2

0451

Some other codes on the paper are faded, but you don't need to worry about those. The most important ones on this list are the Main Gate, East Gate 2, and West Gate 3 codes due to their relevance to sections of Seattle. The main story quest in TLOU 2 will be to connect a generator and let Dina in the city, along with the horse she is riding.

The next stage of the story for TLOU 2 will be to find gasoline in downtown Seattle, but you have a chance to explore much more. Areas like the Pet Store and Bank contain plenty of valuable items or weapons that could help Ellie fend off enemies in the future. You may also find a superhero card or two and start a journey to find every hidden collectible in the game.

Note that the map is tricky to understand at first concerning how far away things are. The area is NOT as big as TLOU2's map makes it seem!

West Gate 2 is one such area since its code actually functions as a way to get past the gate and a combination of a safe found at the intersection between Madison & 4th and Madison & 5th streets. Busting open this safe will give you ammunition for Ellie's guns and some crafting ingredients, healing supplies, and trading cards in TLOU 2.

East Gate 1 Code in The Last of Us 2

East Gate 1 is one of the missing codes from the sheet of paper you found in the trailer building earlier. This is one of the few clues you naturally get during the main story as an objective, so don't look for it during your open-world explorations. Dina enters this code into the Gate East 1 area once you track it down to save you from doing more work as Ellie.

Going through this gate allows you to continue through to the next part of The Last of Us 2's story, but remember to loot every area you can from the other gate codes you obtained before.
