Fans of The Last of Us Part II can now buy a very expensive replica of protagonist Ellie's in-game guitar, as the high-end Taylor Guitars model costs more than a staggering $2000. After years of anticipation, Naughty Dog's latest title, The Last of Us Part II, is finally available for everyone to play and enjoy. The controversial game features intense depictions of violence, but also more low-key, intimate moments, like the instances where Ellie picks up her acoustic guitar and plays various songs.

Ellie's guitar can be used in-game to play an optional rhythm-based minigame, and now fans of the game can purchase a real-life replica of Ellie's signature instrument, courtesy of Taylor Guitars. It's a gorgeous, high-end instrument, but it's also absurdly expensive, so only wealthy fans of Naughty Dog's most recent adventure need apply.

As reported by VG24/7, The Last of Us Part II Replica Taylor 314ce Guitar is available on the PlayStation Gear store. Designed in collaboration with Taylor Guitars, this high-end replica costs a whopping $2299.99. A Taylor GS Mini Guitar is more reasonably priced at $700, and sports a front design based on Ellie's tattoo from the game. The more expensive model isn't immediately identifiable as a tie-in to The Last of Us Part II, since it is directly based on the guitar from within the game.

The Last of Us Ellie Guitar

High-end acoustic guitars in this price range aren't terribly uncommon, but Taylor's other 314ce models generally top off at around $2000. It seems the product tie-in value of this The Last of Us Part II model is a big factor in boosting the price to the $2300 level. Whether that markup is worth having a rare piece of Naughty Dog merchandise will largely depend on the individual customer. For avid guitar enthusiasts who truly appreciate the differences in the sounds made by different guitars, this might be an interesting item to pick up. For more casual music fans who also enjoy video games, it's much harder to justify such a massive purchase. For those customers, the $700 guitar seems like a more inviting, if still intimidating, option.

The Taylor guitars are just two of the items released on the PlayStation Gear store to commemorate the launch of The Last of Us Part II. The store includes an assortment of clothing options, water bottles, dolls, and even a skateboard. The guitars are available for pre-order through the end of July, and the first shipments will be delivered to customers in August. The Last of Us Part II is out now, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
