New set footage from the upcoming HBO horror series The Last of Us shows a first look at Henry and Sam in action. The ten-episode show is based on the popular award-winning video game The Last of Us, a Playstation exclusive that put the player in the role of Joel Miller, who must trek across a zombie-infected country to deliver a 14-year-old girl named Ellie to a militant faction called the Fireflies. Although Joel wants no part in the mission, he soon understands its importance when it's revealed that Ellie may be the key to creating a cure to save the world.

Announced in mid-2020, The Last of Us began shooting in Canada in July of 2021. Pedro Pascal stars as Joel with Game of Thrones' Bella Ramsey cast as Ellie. During their cross-country journey, Joel and Ellie encounter two young survivors in Pittsburgh, brothers Henry and Sam. With brutal hunters hot on their heels, the four decide to team up and attempt to find a safe route leading out of the city. No casting details have been revealed for Henry and Sam.

u/dbaxter1304 on Reddit recently shared set footage that shows the first look at Henry and his little brother Sam in action. In the 18-second clip, Henry leads his younger brother Sam as they scurry across the street, appearing to avoid an unknown enemy. Close behind them is Ellie with her trademark backpack. Joel picks up the rear wearing his iconic tan jacket and carrying what looks to be a handgun in his right hand. Check out the footage below.

The brief video shows a small cordoned off street in downtown Calgary, Canada with limited set dressing. Only a couple of distressed vehicles are visible in the shot while cars and pedestrians pass by the set. Although the names of the actors who are playing Henry and Sam are unknown, it has been confirmed that the younger brother Sam will be deaf in the upcoming series, even though he was not in the original game. This change to the character adds a unique tension-inducing twist to the story where certain infected humans called Clickers track their prey using an acute sense of hearing. This change to Sam's character is similar to Millicent Simmonds's role in the acclaimed A Quiet Place where she played a deaf teenager in a world terrorized by blind monsters with excellent auditory perception.

Seeing Henry and Sam in live-action should bring older The Last of Us fans a sense of excitement as they remember the journey those two will go through alongside the series' heroes. In the original game, Sam and Ellie quickly form a tight bond shortly after they meet. Sam becomes a crucial character in Ellie's development over the course of the story. Although it is unknown if the plot of the series will closely follow that of the game, if it does, fans new and old are in for a treat. The Last of Us is slated for a 2023 release.
