Naughty Dog revealed on Twitter that work is still being conducted on the game and that the extra time will be used for fixing bugs. There is currently no word on a revised released date for the game and people who purchased The Last of Us Part II can receive refunds.

There has been a lot of speculation as to when The Last of Us Part II will be released and Naughty Dog is still trying to finish the game as soon as possible. Naughty Dog vice president and The Last of Us Part II co-director Neil Druckmann mentioned on Twitter that the company is working hard with Sony to ensure that the game will be released as soon as possible.

There have been a number of production delays caused by the coronavirus and the video game industry will not escape unscathed. Even the recent releases of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Resident Evil 3 were thrown into chaos, as retailers were unable to guarantee that fans would receive their copies on release day. Final Fantasy VII Remake had to ship early internationally, which meant that most of the game's secrets were revealed online before most people had the chance to play it.

The 2020 release schedule has been upended by COVID-19 and the future is looking uncertain for many upcoming movies, TV shows, and video games. No one knows when it will be safe to end the lockdown/self-isolation period, so fans will have to be kept in the dark until it's safe for the world to return to normal.
