Viewers looking forward to HBO's The Last of Us series can now visit the Boston quarantine zone set virtually via Google Earth. Based on the Naughty Dog award-winning Playstation video game of the same name, the upcoming 10-episode series will focus on the relationship between Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie Williams (Bella Ramsey) as they traverse across a zombie-infected United States to reach a militant faction group known as the Fireflies. Although Joel initially wanted no part of the mission, he soon realized the stakes when Ellie reveals that due to her natural immunity to the fungal infection plaguing the world, she may be the key to saving it.

The Last of Us began filming in 2021 in-and-around Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with its streets doubling for locations in the United States. Photographs and videos of the show's many sets have been regularly shared on social media, showcasing the series' attention to detail and faithful recreations of prominent areas in the original video game. Recent set images taken of a hospital in Calgary show how the production's set designers transformed the medical facility into the rundown Saint Mary's Hospital of Salt Lake City, Utah that the Fireflies used as their headquarters.

Due to the prolonged shoot in Calgary, sets of The Last of Us can now be viewed on Google Earth and have been modeled in-detail. A recent video shared on Twitter by @HBOsTheLastofUs explores the HBO series' Boston quarantine zone set in southeast Calgary. Check out the video below.

The Last of Us set can be seen just east of the Calgary Stampede Grandstand and adjacent to the Compound Skate Park. The set features multiple facades that double as various quarantine zone buildings, an alley of tents, and a massive south-facing wall with the word "Welcome" emblazoned over its entrance that will most likely be used as the zone's external barrier. A Humvee is also parked just south of the large wall, resembling the vehicles used by the FEDRA, a governmental military authority that controls the area.

As set photos and videos continue to hit social media, The Last of Us has continued to impress with its faithful recreations of memorable locations within the original video game. While it's expected to arrive next year, the series' exact release date is currently unknown. Still, anticipation is high to see how closely showrunner Craig Mazin has adhered to the source material. If the recent photos and videos of The Last of Us' well-crafted sets and game-accurate costumes are any indication of the quality of the series, then audiences will surely be pleased when the show hits HBO in 2023.
