Netflix's original movie The Last Letter From Your Lover is the latest in book-to-movie adaptations. The film is based on the 2012 novel by Jojo Moyes (also the author of Me Before You) about a pair of English lovers in the 1960s. Separated by wealth and a toxic marriage, they send letters to one another to express their true feelings for one another.

The film stars Shailene Woodley and Calum Turner as the aforementioned lovers, with Felicity Jones starring as the woman who uncovers the evidence of their affair years later as she deals with her own unnerving love life. Though these actors' names may sound familiar, their faces will remind fans of other projects they have seen them in.

Ncuti Gatwa (Nick)

Rising star Ncuti Gatwa played Nick, one of Rory and Ellie's co-workers and a fellow journalist in The Last Letter From Your Lover. Though a small role, he was certainly a star in his specific scenes.

As the youngest member of the cast, Gatwa has limited screen credits. Fans may recognize him from the popular Netflix series starring Gillian Anderson entitled Sex Education. On the show he stars as main character Eric Effiong, one of Otis's best friends who is openly gay.

Ben Cross (Older Anthony)

Ben Cross starred as the older version of Anthony O'Hare, who is tracked down by Ellie and Rory and encouraged to reach out to his long-lost lover and recipient of the letters, Jennifer Stirling.

Ben Cross had a long and respectable career before this film's release. He was best known for his role in Star Trek's 2009 film as Sarek. He also played the leading role in the 1981 film Chariots of Fire, which is perhaps the movie he is most famous for. He worked from 1973 until his death in 2020.

Diana Kent (Older Jennifer)

Diana Kent plays the older version of Shailene Woodley's character Jennifer Stirling. Older Jennifer has not heard from Anthony in decades but reunites with him at the film's end.

Diana Kent has been a working actor since 1986, starring in films like Heavenly Creatures, Margaret, and One Day. Her television career is very vast, including roles on The Bill, Father Brown, and most recently the 2021 television series Belgravia.

Nabhaan Rizwan (Rory McCallan)

Nabhaan Rizwan starred as the love interest of Felicity Jones' character. His character, Rory McCallan, is an archivist who helps in Ellie's pursuit of finding the people behind the love letters and also harbors romantic feelings for her.

Rizwan's credits are limited as he is a fairly up-and-coming actor, with his first television role being Raza Shar in The Informer in 2018. His other film roles include 1917 and Mogul Mowgli and he is currently starring as Frank on Station Eleven.

Joe Alwyn (Laurence Stirling)

Joe Alwyn plays Shailene Woodley's husband Laurence Stirling, an arrogant industrialist with whom she has a tumultuous and unhappy relationship.

Alwyn is a British actor who has had supporting roles in films such as The Favourite and Harriet. He recently won a Grammy award for co-writing and producing Taylor Swift's 2020 album Folklore. He has also been the subject of several of Swift's love songs in recent years, and the two have been in a relationship since 2016.

Callum Turner (Anthony O'Hare)

Callum Turner stars as Anthony O'Hare, the journalist responsible for writing a profile on Laurence Stirling. He ends up falling for Stirling's wife Jennifer, and the two of them engage in an affair until tragedy strikes and they are torn apart.

Turner is both an actor and model and has notable credits in his ten years of acting. These include playing Theseus Scamander in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Frank Churchill in the 2020 remake of Jane Austen's Emma.

Jones has been in lots of other projects over the years including The Theory of Everything where she played Stephen Hawking's wife and On the Basis of Sex where she took on the role of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Woodley has had a bustling career specifically in the last 15 years. She is best known for her role as Amy Juergens in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, the title character who becomes unexpectedly pregnant after a summer away at band camp. Woodley has also starred in blockbusters like The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent and the HBO series Big Little Lies alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.
