Here's what Last Action Hero's cast looks like now, plus their biggest movie and TV projects since. Arnold Schwarzenegger reached the peak of his movie stardom with Terminator 2: Judgment Day, so naturally, he wanted to pick something special for his follow-up. That was Last Action Hero, an action-comedy where a teenage boy is sucked into the last sequel featuring his favorite movie character. Last Action Hero was poised to be the biggest movie of 1993, with its PG-13 making it - in theory - more family-friendly.
A few things ended up hurting Arnold Schwarzenegger's comedy Last Action Hero, including the surprise success of Spielberg's Jurassic Park. The film ended up being a flop, receiving bad reviews for its odd tonal mix of action and meta humor. Removed from the hype surrounding its release, the movie has aged well and while it's messy, there's a lot about Last Action Hero to enjoy.
The movie's tone was also ahead of its time and would be better utilized in the likes of Scream. Here's what Last Action Hero's cast has done in the years since, and what they look like now.
What Last Action Hero's Cast Looks Like Now
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Detective Jack Slater / Himself
Schwarzenegger tops the cast of Last Action Hero as fictional hero Jack Slater and himself (plus Hamlet). The underperformance of the film was his first big failure as a star but he went on to more hits like True Lies. In recent years, Arnie has appeared in the likes of Terminator: Genisys and Dark Fate, plus appearances in The Expendables movies.
Austin O'Brien as Danny Madigan
Danny is the teen protagonist of Last Action Hero, who is magically transported into the latest Jack Slater movie via a magic ticket. He was played by Austin O'Brien, who would follow it up with roles in My Girl 2, Apollo 13 and Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace. O'Brien has largely stepped away from acting, with his last credit being the short film Cowl Girl in 2015.
Charles Dance as Mr. Benedict
The main villain of Last Action Hero is Charles Dance's Benedict, who steals Danny's ticket to cross over into reality. Dance was amused when he read the script and Benedict was introduced as being "played by Alan Rickman," who passed on the blockbuster. Dance has had many big movies and shows since Last Action Hero, including Gosford Park, The Imitation Game, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters and - of course - the quotable Tywin Lannister on Game Of Thrones.
Tom Noonan as The Ripper
Tom Noonan's Ripper is the secondary villain of Last Action Hero's cast, who is a serial killer responsible for the death of Slater's son. Noonan was known for his intense appearances in the likes of Manhunter and RoboCop 2 before the movie. In the years since the veteran character actor has appeared in Heat, The House of the Devil, stop-motion drama Anomalisa and had a recurring role on TV show 12 Monkeys.
Bridgette Wilson as Whitney Slater
Rounding out the main Last Action Hero cast is Bridgette Wilson as Whitney, the daughter of Jack. While the movie wasn't a hit, Wilson went on to an impressive run, including Billy Madison, playing Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat - replacing Cameron Diaz in the role - and I Know What You Did Last Summer. In the 2000s she appeared in the likes of Just Visiting with Jean Reno but retired from acting following 2008's Phantom Punch.
