The Bad Boys spinoff LA's Finest season 2, starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union, has been officially delayed until later in 2020. The show began as a pilot at NBC, but was then purchased by Spectrum as their flagship original series. LA's Finest stars Union as police detective Syd Burnett, who relocates to Los Angeles and becomes partners with Alba's Nancy McKenna. Union's character originally premiered in Bad Boys 2 and is the sister of Martin Lawrence's Marcus Burnett, while the rest of the cast of characters are new.

The news comes from Variety, announcing the delay of LA's Finest as season 2 was supposed to premiere its first few episodes today, June 8, on Spectrum. Fox has acquired broadcast rights to the show's first two seasons, and the channel plans to air the 13-episode first season on Mondays this fall. News of the delay will supposedly not affect Fox's schedule.

Though the reason for the delay is currently unclear, it comes in the wake of the worldwide protests against police brutality. LA's Finest is centered around police officers, and along with a lot of other TV series, it generally portrays police as heroic and kind. Very few programs have touched on the current issues within the police system, which have resulted in many unjust deaths and arrests.

Alongside Union and Alba, who also executive produce LA's Finest, the series stars Duane Martin, Zach Gilford, Sophie Reynolds and Ernie Hudson. LA's Finest was announced back in 2018, and has been fueled by the success of the newest Bad Boys film, Bad Boys for LifeA fourth film is already confirmed to be in the works at Sony.
