The Japanese anime, Laid-Back Camp, or Yuru Camp, is getting a game adaptation by the developers behind Steins;Gate, Mages. This is most likely going to be a visual novel, as the developers at Mages are responsible for making visual novels for well animes such as Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes and Memories Off. Fans of the show should be keen to go on a laid-back camping trip with their favorite characters and experience some of the beauty the Japanese countryside has to offer.

This year, Laid-Back Camp’s second season started airing, continuing on the girls' camping adventures from the first season. The series is set in the Yamanashi Prefecture, around the base of Mount Fuji, focusing on some of the smaller towns and stunning countryside in this area. The main characters travel to various campsites and the show makes a point of teaching the views about proper camping procedures and etiquette.

The announcement was made on the Mage developer’s Twitter account. If you can’t read Japanese, the images themselves help fill in the blanks. The Tweet did not specify much about what the game will be, beyond that the studio is developing it. Most likely this visual novel will be in line with the anime’s Slice of Life genre feeling. Gathering firewood, cooking, pitching tents, and spending time with friends is the core of the show – and will most likely be the main aspect of the game too. It would be hard to imagine any other kind of game experience for such a laid back and gentle show such as Yuru Camp.

There is also a Virtual Reality game, Laid-Back Camp Virtual, based on the series being developed by Gemdrops. This VR adventure is going to be a virtual camping adventure, with two different campgrounds being constructed in the 3D setting. This VR experience is set to be released in April, with the first campground being released on March 4. Some of the main characters have also appeared in the mobile RPG Kirara Fantasia, Merc Storia and Cinderalla Nine.

There is nothing as of yet for when this game will be released and on what platform. Mages currently has two games out on the Nintendo Switch, Famicon Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicon Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind. These titles were announced in the recent Nintendo Direct last February. Fans of the anime should give these titles a look at, even just to see how the developers might go about handling the adaptation and source material.
