The L.A. Law sequel series will bring back original cast member Corbin Bernsen. Released in 1986, the legal drama ran on NBC for eight seasons and spawned a reunion film in 2002. Created by Steven Bochco and Terry Louise Fisher, the original series revolved around a group of attorneys at a law firm and dealt with numerous topical issues. These include the AIDS crisis, domestic violence, sexual assault, and racism. Recently, ABC announced that an L.A. Law sequel series was in the works, and Blair Underwood would return as attorney Jonathan Rollins. Now, it appears another lawyer is heading back to the courtroom.

Per Variety, Bernsen will reprise his role as Arnold Becker in the forthcoming L.A. Law sequel pilot. Written by Marc Guggenheim and Ubah Mohamed, L.A. Law will return to the halls of the esteemed law firm of McKenzie Brackman, where partners attempt to tackle high-profile, boundary-pushing cases. Speaking on reprising his iconic role, Bernsen said, “I’ve often thought about revisiting L.A. Law and Arnie Becker over the years. Now seems the perfect moment in time to explore our fast-changing world through Becker’s eyes. Fasten your seatbelts.”

According to the series synopsis, “Former lothario Arnold Becker hasn’t changed since the 1980s - but the world sure has. Now in his 60s, Becker struggled with a rapidly-shifting sexual and political landscape.” Of course, it appears the re-envisioned L.A. Law plans to stay close to its roots, as original cast members from the award-winning series are expected to make an appearance should the pilot go to series. Indeed, L.A. Law seems to be making a comeback into a new era and plans to focus on a new generation of lawyers at the firm. For now, fans of the original L.A. Law series can look forward to seeing Bernsen return Arnie.
