Kylie Jenner, of Keeping Up With the Kardashians fame, shared a rare photo of her pregnant belly on Instagram, citing it as one of her favorites of many. The 22-year-old makeup mogul welcomed her first child with then-partner Travis Scott in February of 2018. The photo was shared as an homage to "strong women," and the makeup mogul tagged her mother and manager, Kris Jenner.
Jenner famously kept her pregnancy hidden from fans for its entirety, despite the incessant rumors. On February 4, 2018, Jenner went public with the news in a text-only Instagram post, apologizing to fans for keeping them in the dark, but noting "pregnancy was [one journey she] chose not to do in front of the world." The post was followed by an emotional video revealing the news, and finally two days later an image of baby Webster along with a reveal of her name.
Since Stormi's birth, Jenner has shared numerous pictures of her daughter, but until Thursday's Instagram post, she had never revealed a photo of her pregnancy on the social media platform. The post signals a new confidence in Jenner after accepting changes to her postpartum body. In an Instagram story Q&A on October 11, Jenner was honest with fans about new stretch marks to her "breasts, butt, and thighs." Jenner commented that she "just accepted them as a little gift from Stormi" and that "once [she] accepted the change [her] confidence came back."
Jenner was only 20 when she gave birth to her daughter and had, until that point, been in the spotlight for 10 years while her family filmed Keeping Up With the Kardashians and built their dynasty. While Jenner cited needing to keep her pregnancy private for her "life and happiness," fans were dismayed by her choice. However, Jenner isn't the first Kardashian sister to receive criticism over her pregnancy. Kim Kardashian was shamed for her use of a surrogate, despite facing life-threatening complications during her first pregnancies with North and Saint West, while Khloe Kardashian was criticized for her strict workout regiment while pregnant. Khloe was quick to clap back at fans, letting them know her doctor encouraged her active lifestyle. It seems these ladies can't please fans regardless of how they choose to handle their pregnancies.
Despite the secrecy, and not sharing photos of her pregnancy publicly, until now, Jenner calls those months pregnant with Stormi a "special time in her life" and notes she became "so much stronger and independent." In March 2019, Forbes Magazine included Jenner on the billionaires list. Only a year after welcoming her first child, Jenner became the world's youngest self-made billionaire at the age of 21. Perhaps launching a billion-dollar business and starring in a hit television show all before she's legally able to have a drink might earn her the right to reveal her pregnant Polaroids on her own time.
