The never-ending beef between Kanye West and Taylor Swift started at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. That year, Beyoncé had garnered several nominations for her iconic "Single Ladies" music video. Before Queen Bey won Video Of The Year that year, Taylor's "You Belong With Me" video won Best Female Video. An outraged Kanye stood up from his seat during Taylor's acceptance speech and interrupted her. "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you," Kanye said, "I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!" Even viewers who agreed with Kanye felt like it was rude for him to interrupt what was then an up-and-coming singer winning her first-ever VMA trophy.
Kanye Disses Taylor On "Famous"
A few diss tracks and many award show run-ins later, Kanye West and Taylor Swift were willing to help each other fix their unnecessary feud. In 2015, Taylor introduced Kanye before he won the coveted Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs. They appeared to have buried the hatchet, at least until Kanye released a new song, "Famous", where he implied that he could possibly still sleep with Taylor since he had "made her famous." This line did not sit well with Taylor, who declared that she had never given Kanye the greenlight to say that about her. In turn, the rapper insisted that he got her consent for those lyrics.
Kim Leaks Phone Call With Taylor
This is when Kim Kardashian got actively involved in the Taylor Swift drama. Trying to defend her then-husband, Kim took to her Snapchat to leak the audio recording of a phone call that happened between Taylor and Kanye. As transcribed by Bustle, Kanye presented Taylor with a very different version of his lyrics, at no point referring to the part where he claimed to make her famous. While Taylor could be heard giving Kanye the go-ahead, it was clear that she hadn't listened to the final lyrics on "Famous". Since then, Kim became an active character in this ongoing feud.
Some Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans think that Kim might reach out to Taylor after her divorce with Kanye is finalized. On the other hand, it's not like these two women have much in common, and it's very unlikely that they'd ever need to collaborate on a project together.
