Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kim Kardashian is very proud that designers started dressing curvier women over the years. Before Kim became an icon in the fashion industry, there weren't that many other famous women who had the same body shape as her. Designers usually would gravitate toward celebrity women who had a slimmer body shape, as they were seemingly easier to dress compared to someone with a little bit more curve.

After KUWTK started to do well and Kim began a relationship with Kanye West, designers started flocking to Kim so they could dress her for her next big event. Designers started dressing more women who looked like Kim rather than just focusing on the celebrities with a slimmer body type. Kim has truly changed the fashion industry, and now young women with curvy body types have a place in fashion.

The 41-year-old was a guest during an episode of the Honestly with Bari Weiss podcast on December 16. In it, Kim spoke about how proud she is of designers for giving her a chance to dress her. "When I first started to get into fashion, no one would send me clothes because they were like, ‘There’s no way this is going to fit her right?" Kim, who credits Kanye for her style, recalled. "I was like, ‘I promise it’ll fit me. I’ll squeeze into it.'" Back when Kim was a teenager in the 1990s, clothes tended to fit only the skinniest models, which was the opposite of the reality star's curvy figure. "I had huge b**bs when I was like 12 years old, and I was always really curvy," Kim explained, adding that people in school would randomly smack her bum as they walked down the hallways. At the end of high school, Kim started to get a bit more attention given that women like Jennifer Lopez rose to fame.

Over time, Kim began to feel seen and more comfortable with her body type. Alas, the fashion world really began to change when Kim started KUWTK in 2007, and she started to become friends with different designers. "When I started to have friends that were designers, and they would make collections that would fit more of my body type, I felt like, OK, this is a win for the curvy girls, because people were starting to design differently," she said, adding that this change really made her "proud." However, Kim didn't leave it all to the fashion industry to create a space for curvy women. In September 2019, Kim launched her own shapewear brand, SKIMS. The brand offers a variety of underwear, loungewear, and shapewear available in sizes ranging from XXS to 4XL. Kim's success with her shapewear line led to a new collaboration with the fashion house Fendi, complete with shapewear, dresses, accessories, and more.

The fashion industry has become more accepting of curvy women with the help of Kim's influence. It used to be rare or even impossible for women with different body shapes to get dressed by designers. The former Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has broken boundaries in the fashion world and created a space in fashion for curvy women to feel and recognize their beauty.
