Divorce may be on the table for Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, and divorce will mean separating their massive fortunes. This famous duo has had marital problems since Kanye posted a series of shocking tweets about his wife, his daughter, North West, and others. Many people believe that these tweets are the byproduct of bipolar mania.

West's Twitter tirade against Kim and other family members happened after a bizarre campaign rally in South Carolina. At the rally, Kanye explained how he and Kim Kardashian contemplated aborting their eldest child, daughter North West. This alleged past discussion was upsetting to Kim and her family. Over the next two nights, Kanye was claiming that he’d been trying to divorce Kim... and that she tried to fly to Wyoming to lock him up. He compared the situation to the plot of the film, Get Out. Kim asked fans to be compassionate towards Kanye but has said nothing else about his statements. On July 25, Kanye publicly apologized for his comments and asked Kim for forgiveness. Multiple outlets reported that the couple has been contemplating divorce for weeks.

On July 27, Kim flew to Wyoming to visit Kanye. While this may have seemed like a sign that things were good between the pair, things seemed anything but good in photos captured by the paparazzi. Kim and Kanye were pictured sitting in a car, according to Hollywood Life. They weren't speaking and had tense looks on their faces. This behavior could indicate some possible resentment... and deep-seated problems in their relationship. If these potential problems can’t be solved, divorce may be the alternative.

A prenuptial agreement would hopefully prevent any nasty financial disputes between the pair. Luckily, Kim and Kanye signed one before they wed in 2014. At that time, Kanye was head over heels in love with Kim and didn’t want to sign a prenup. He believed the two were made for each other. Even if they did separate, he indicated he would be willing to give Kim whatever she wanted. When they married, the accomplished rapper was worth $100 million and Kim, who was gaining traction as a businesswoman, was worth $40 million. It was impossible for Kanye to foresee the stress the pandemic would have on 'Kimye'.  Kanye's intense bipolar episodes are reportedly also playing a part in the downfall of their relationship. Even if the couple continuse to share a lot of love for each other, their situation may not be working anymore.

Radar Online reported the details of the prenup in an exclusive story, which was posted ahead of the couple’s 2014 wedding. Kim receives $1 million for each year the couple is married, with a cap of $10 million. The Bel Air house the couple owned was in Kim’s name and would be Kim’s property in the event of a divorce. They have since sold this house. All gifts given to Kim by Kanye will be considered her property. All money from Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Kim’s other business ventures are considered her individual income. A life insurance policy for Kanye (then valued at $10 million) lists Kim as the sole beneficiary permanently, even if the couple gets divorced. It’s unclear what terms apply to Kanye’s wealth. It may have been assumed that Kanye would always be the highest earner in the relationship, but Kim has increased her net worth significantly.

Prenup Terms Seem Fair

While this prenup is a starting point, a lot has changed since then. Kanye is now worth $1.3 billion, according to Forbes. Kanye’s highly profitable YEEZY sneaker collaboration with Adidas was responsible for the crossover into billionaire territory. Attaining billionaire status was a longtime goal of Kanye’s. This number has likely increased and most certainly will increase in the coming years, thanks to Kanye’s continued musical endeavors and newly-inked partnership with GAP. Forbes estimated Kim Kardashian's net worth as $900 million after she sold a percentage of KKW Beauty to Coty. Kim’s net worth will likely increase significantly, thanks to her various business ventures. KKW Beauty and her SKIMS clothing line both routinely bring in millions of dollars annually. Kim can also charge up to $1 million per Instagram post. While the couple could have envisioned this success, they likely didn’t plan out their prenup with this kind of exponential growth in mind.

Kim Owns Part Of Yeezy

The pair will likely retain individual ownership of their various business endeavors. While Kanye doesn’t own any portions of Kim’s businesses, Kim owns a percentage of YEEZY. Kanye gifted Kim a percentage worth $1 million or more in 2018. Kanye has also gifted Kim pricey stocks in other companies like Disney and Apple. In the event of a divorce, Kim would likely retain her percentage of the business, as per the gifts clause of their prenup. As far as future involvement, Kim may choose to advertise for YEEZY or step away from it. The pair would also have to divide their expansive real estate portfolio. If their current home is signed in Kim’s, name like the Bel Air house was, Kim Kardashian should be able to keep the property. Kanye would likely keep their Wyoming ranch as he spends a lot of time there. Kanye has previously said he doesn’t want to live in Calabasas full-time. He's said he would rather move to his hometown, Chicago.

Would Kim Stay In Calabasas?

There’s also a chance Kim would choose to relocate to a different property in Calabassas. The reality star Kim Kardashian considered moving earlier this year when the couple was having trouble cohabitating during the quarantine. Depending on when the couple separates (if they do separate), Kim may have some trouble finding a comfortable new place for her and their kids. Kanye will need to spend at least some time in Calabasses as his various YEEZY properties are located in the area. He may want to stay in the minimalist mansion he put so much effort into designing. The mansion closely matches the aesthetic of his YEEZY headquarters in Calabasas. The couple has multiple other real estate investments that they would need to divide, including apartments in other cities and undeveloped properties in LA.

On top of financial obligations, the pair would need to decide on custody arrangements. The prenup signed in 2014 didn’t mention any custody agreements for their first daughter, North (their only child at the time). Kim would likely retain primary custody of their children as, from the looks of it, they spend the most time in Calabasas with her. Kim from Keeping Up With the Kardashians also has an expansive support system of family and friends.
