Kung Fu Panda 3 Trailer #2: From Master to Teacher

After the successes of Kung Fu Panda and Kung Fu Panda 2, Dreamworks Animation is going bigger and better for Kung Fu Panda 3. With more pandas and a supernatural village, Po (Jack Black) will have to face greater challenges in the newest trailer for the movie.

Previous trailer and promos for Kung Fu Panda 3 have focused on the relationship between Po and his father (Bryan Cranston) as they reconnect before venturing off to a secret panda village. DreamWorks has thus been heavily promoting the family-friendly and comedic aspect of the Kung Fu Panda series, by highlighting the relationship between father and son in the latest movie installment.

With a new trailer released today, the focus still contains a lot of the humor that Kung Fu Panda is known for - while at the same time, providing a proper introduce to the film's villain in action. Kai (Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons) will be formidable enemy against Po and along with the voice acting of Simmons, their showdown will be an exciting one to watch. However, Po will not be alone fighting Kai; as the newest trailer reveals, he has to train the pandas in said secret village to become Kung Fu warriors themselves.

While teased in the new trailer, expect to see Kai bring the supernatural with him in Kung Fu Panda 3. Earlier this year, the film's co-director Jennifer Yuh Nelson spoke with EW about Kai and explained that “he’s a villain that Po is completely ill-equipped to face.” Nelson continues by making a distinction between each villain in the Kung Fu Panda movie series to date:

“You can’t go brawler because Tai Lung was brawler. You can’t go smarter because Shen was smarter. Where can you go? You have to go supernatural, bigger, and even more intimidating.”

By going bigger and badder, Kung Fu Panda 3 is gearing up to become a significant winner at the box office for Dreamworks Animation. It should certainly be a hit among people who love an adorable crew of Kung Fu panda warriors.

Kung Fu Panda 3 opens in U.S. theaters on January 29th, 2016.
