The Kryptonians of DC's universe - Kal-El, Zod, and Kara - haven't had their full story told. World of Krypton will present the truth about these alien beings in a modern new origin story. Instead of focusing on their independent voyages to Earth and the lives they live there, this new series will focus on the history of the world they left behind.

The story of Krypton and Superman's origins are well-known. The planet was destroyed despite the efforts of Superman's father Jor-El to save it. This led to him sending his son away in a rocket, which landed on Earth. The names Kal-El and Jor-El are famous in comics. However, DC is revealing that the entire story hasn't been told yet. There is more to Krypton than fans know, which will be uncovered soon.

World of Krypton will have the creative team of Robert Venditti, Michael Avon Oeming, and Nicholas Filardi. It will be a six-issue miniseries beginning this December. It will follow Jor-El's journey to save his homeworld, though it might be too late - and if the known history of Krypton connects to this story it will be. DC has shared a preview of the first issue as well as the covers for it. Check out an early look at the TRUE history of Krypton here:

It is true that Krypton's story is well-known, which means that DC must have some major secrets up its sleeve. The art style provided by Oeming is already unlike previous Superman-centric stories, already yielding promise that this will truly be something fresh for fans to enjoy. These intricately detailed pages showcase Kryptonian society, which often isn't the focus of Kal-El's comics. While his origin has been told again and again, Krypton is typically shown in a state of crisis when it appears. In these previews, that does not seem to be the case. It appears as though fans could get a look at what Kryptonian life was truly like before ruin came to the planet.

The solicit from DC makes many promises, including political intrigue - which is a detail usually lightly touched upon. Jor-El is perceived by the council as a man who doesn't know what he's talking about due to reliance on Brainiac. It would certainly make sense that part of why Jor-El isn't taken seriously is due to power dynamics within the Science Council, as well as in the broader world of Krypton that fans will glimpse in this series. Famous Kryptonians have survived the planet's fall, including Kal-El's Superman, Kara's Supergirl and General Zod. DC will also be giving readers exactly what they want - Krypto as a puppy. Krypton will come to life in a modern era when World of Krypton #1 releases December 7, 2021.
