Syfy has released the first photo of Emmett J. Scanlan's Lobo in Krypton. It was announced at SDCC 2018 that Lobo would be making his live action debut in season 2 of the Superman prequel series. Lobo is one of many major DC villains to join Krypton. Lobo is expected to be the main villain of season 2.

Developed by David S. Goyer, Krypton explores the history of Superman's home planet by telling the story of Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the Man of Steel's grandfather. The first season followed Seg as he struggled to save his planet from Brainiac. Seg was aided by time-travelers Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) and one of his grandson's greatest enemies, General Zod (Colin Salmon), who secretly planned to take control of Krypton and change history. Thanks to Zod's actions, Brainiac was defeated, but Superman was erased from history.

At NYCC 2018, Syfy revealed the first photo of Lobo along with a detailed character description which provides plenty of clues as to what to expect from the character when he arrives on Krypton. The photo and the description indicates that Krypton's Lobo will be faithful to the source material:

Emmett J. Scanlan plays the newest DC Comics character to join KRYPTON, Lobo. A ruthless bounty hunter, who murdered his entire species, he possesses a genius level intellect when it comes to matters of warfare, making him a deadly adversary. Imbued with superhuman strength, and virtually immortal, Lobo will keep coming until the job is finished. His word is the only thing Lobo holds sacred; and although he’ll never violate the letter of an agreement, he might disregard its spirit from time to time!

The announcement surrounding Lobo's role in Krypton was met with mixed reactions. Though the bounty hunter is a fan-favorite DC Comics villain, there are elements of his character that some feel won't work on Krypton. Stories involving Lobo are generally filled with over-the-top violence and dark humor. The introduction of Lobo would certainly bring a change in tone to Krypton. Showrunner Cameron Welsh has acknowledged that Lobo appearing on Krypton is an "unlikely match", and hopes to use that to their advantage in making Lobo an interesting addition to the series.

The circumstances behind Lobo's presence on the planet has yet to be revealed, though it may have something to do with the season 1 finale, which ended with Zod moving Krypton toward galactic expansion. The Kryptonians spend all of season 1 unaware of the existence of life on other planets, but Brainiac's failed invasion changed all of that. Now Zod wants his people to explore and conqueror. This could be what opens the door for Lobo to appear.

Lobo's immortality makes it possible for him to cross paths with the Kryptonians long before he ever meets his future enemy, Superman. Whatever brings Lobo to Krypton, his ruthlessness and devotion to taking down his target will surely make Lobo a formidable adversary for Seg in season 2.
