Krypton season 2 is officially happening, so what can DC fans expect from the next chapter in the Superman prequel story? Syfy's Krypton TV series goes back in time 200 years and follows Seg-El, the Man of Steel’s grandfather, starring English actor Cameron Cuffe in the main role.

Krypton is co-produced by David S. Goyer, the writer-producer of films like Blade II, Blade: Trinity, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the upcoming Masters of the Universe. Back in 2014, Goyer first began developing Krypton season 1 and filming officially began in 2017. By March 2018, Krypton season 1 finally premiered on Syfy. So, it’s been a long journey for Krypton thus far, and fans are clamoring for new episodes after Krypton season 1 concluded in May 2018.

Krypton Season 2 Release Date Info

One day before Krypton season 1’s finale aired, Syfy officially ordered Krypton season 2. Given that the Superman prequel had “the most-watched season for any scripted series on the network since Defiance in 2015,” the season 2 renewal made perfect sense for Syfy. And now, Syfy has set the Krypton season 2 premiere date for Wednesday, June 12. Krypton season 1 premiered in March 2018, but given that Krypton season 2 wrapped in filming in March 2019, it made sense that the show would miss the spring season this year. However, with a dearth in Syfy's programming at the moment, Krypton season 2 premiering in June is ideal and it gives the series less competition.

Krypton Season 2 Story Details

In the Krypton season 1 finale, the concept of re-writing history in order to arrive at a familiar Superman origin story began to take shape. For Krypton season 2, the story jumps ahead five months after Seg-El enters The Phantom Zone, with Zod now in control. The Krypton season 2 teaser trailer that recently released offers a look at Doomsday, yet another threat for Seg-El, and even for Zod. Of course, Krypton fans already know that Lobo is in the mix, too, who was revealed in the second Krypton season 2 teaser trailer. The impending arrival of Lobo is significant for Syfy, as the character’s Krypton season 2 inclusion marks his live-action franchise debut. Since Krypton is essentially about Superman in a roundabout way, Krypton season 2 will detail how the Man of Steel’s legacy is re-established.

In Krypton season 2, Cuffe will return as the series protagonist Seg-El, while Emmett J. Scanlon joins the cast as the aforementioned Lobo. In addition, Brainiac remains part of the story, so audiences can expect Blake Ritson to return as the supervillain as well. Additionally, series regulars from season 1 are scheduled to return for Krypton season 2, such as Colin Salmon as Zod, Georgina Campbell as Lyta-Zod, Shaun Sipos as Adam Strange, Wallis Day as Nyssa-Vex, and Ann Ogbomo as Jayna-Zod.
