Kristin Cavallari thinks The Hills reboot is a slap in the face to the original cast of the reality series. News broke on May 18 that MTV had greenlit a new series called The Hills: Next Gen, which would follow a younger generation of LA residents making it in the big city. The original series aired from 2006 through 2010 on the network and was revived in 2018 as The Hills: New Beginnings. The new series caught up with some of the original cast members who were now living drastically different lives than they were when the show first aired.

Unfortunately, the cast struggled to get along and provide the same drama they did when they were in their early 20s, so sadly, MTV canceled The Hills: New Beginnings in January. Former star Audrina Patridge recently spoke out with her thoughts on the show. The reality star, who has an autobiography coming out in July, revealed in a live stream that she was surprised by the announcement. She was hurt that MTV would go on with the show without the original cast, who made it the success that it was. However, she also admitted it would be hard for her not to tune in when it airs.

Now, Kristin is stating her thoughts on The Hills: Next Gen, and it doesn't seem like she's too pleased with the news either. Kristin was a guest host on Daily Pop, where she discussed the show saying, "I feel like it's a totally different show if they're getting an entirely new cast. How are you gonna even call it The Hills? That's a different show." The star sided with Audrina, saying the fact that the cast all found out in the same way, presumably through the announcement, was "a slap in the face." However, Kristin also agreed with Audrina's statement that the cast is older now and more concerned with their image, so they have less to offer a reality series that thrives on drama.

Laguna Beach The Real Orange County's Kristin Cavallari And Stephen Colletti

While Kristin may not be starring in The Hills: Next Gen, the star will still be busy resisting her reality TV career. Kristin has teamed up with her ex-boyfriend and former Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County costar Stephen Colletti for a rewatch podcast. The two will be rewatching the episodes and then letting listeners in on all the behind-the-scenes secrets of the show. They will also allow fans to call in and ask questions about the show and their experience filming it as teenagers.

MTV probably should have reached out to the former The Hills stars personally to tell them about their reboot out of respect. It also would have been great if they found a way to include the original cast in the new show. Despite some of the hurt, Kristin and Audrina both have come to terms with the fact that their lives just aren't as TV-worthy as they were in their 20s. Hopefully, The Hills: New Gen stars can bring the heat to the TV screens the same way the original stars did back in the 2000s.
