A new Kraven the Hunter set video shows a new look at an action-packed car chase scene. Acting as the next installment in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, Kraven the Hunter is currently scheduled to release on January 13, 2023. The film follows in the footsteps of other Sony supervillain movies, including Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and most recently, Morbius. Kraven the Hunter stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular hunter and is directed by J.C. Chandor, who is best known for A Most Violent Year and Netflix's Triple Frontier.

Kraven, a Russian hunter whose real name is Sergei Kravinoff, is best known in the comics for being a member of the supervillain team the Sinister Six, and is one of Spider-Man's most formidable opponents. An official plot synopsis of the film has not yet been released, but a Kraven the Hunter set video released in late March does show various angles of a car chase being filmed in London. In addition to Taylor-Johnson, it has been confirmed that the film will star Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Christopher Abbot as the Foreigner, Fred Hechinger as Dmitri Smerdyakov, and Russell Crowe in an undisclosed role.

Now, a new set video courtesy of Reda Bitar on TikTok reveals a new angle of the Kraven the Hunter car chase scene. The video features a clear aerial view of the street and gives a much better look at the stunt double hanging onto the side of a van as it careens through traffic. As can be seen in the video, the van is outfitted with rigging to secure several cameras that are capturing the action.

In addition to featuring what appears to be Taylor-Johnson's Kraven stunt double hanging onto the side of the van, the vehicle itself has a perfectly orchestrated near-miss with an oncoming vehicle. While the context of the scene remains unclear in terms of how it will fit into the story of the film, the action sequence already looks impressive. Interestingly, the sequence is also being filmed practically instead of relying on green screen and CGI, as has been done for many other Marvel car sequences, including the bus fight in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

It remains to be seen how Kraven the Hunter will fit into the broader Spider-Man villain universe Sony is creating, but Morbius has largely been a misfire for the studio, suggesting that a lot might ride on the upcoming film. Although the car chase is likely only one small part of it, it's refreshing to see a superhero action scene being shot practically, even if it will likely be enhanced with visual effects in post-production. With filming still underway, it will likely be a while before a Kraven the Hunter trailer is released, but for now, this new look at the car chase scene is sure to get superhero fans excited.
