Keanu Reeves has reportedly been offered the lead role in Kraven, a solo film centered around Spider-Man villain Kraven, The Hunter. Kraven has been in the works since 2018 as Sony looks to expand its Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. Jared Leto will play the titular character in recently delayed Morbius, while Venom: Let There Be Carnage is also on the way. Triple Frontier director JC Chandor was reportedly in talks to direct Kraven, but that has yet to be confirmed by Chandor or the studio.

Kraven, The Hunter, is a significant player in the world of Spider-Man. Introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #15, Kraven is a big game hunter who gains superhuman strength, speed, and senses after drinking a mysterious potion. To prove he is the greatest hunter globally, Kraven makes it his mission to hunt down Spidey himself. Details are scarce on the film, but Kraven is starting to take shape with this latest news.

According to IlluminerdiSony has offered the role of Kraven to Reeves. Reeves has yet to respond to the offer for the project, working under the moniker Kraven. The tone the studio is shooting for was also revealed as a mash-up between Logan and Man on Fire. We've reached out to Sony and Reeves' representatives for comment and will update if we hear back.

The Matrix actor has been linked to Marvel projects before, including the role of Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel. That role eventually went to Jude Law, but Reeves has been floated for several other Marvel roles, including Moon Knight. Kraven might be the perfect character for Reeves, though. Part adversary, part anti-hero, Kraven finds himself straddling the line between good and evil, similar to Reeves' own John Wick. With Sony offering the role to Reeves, it's clear that reports about Kraven's importance in the MCU may be accurate.

After Michael Keaton's appearance as Vulture in the Morbius trailer, it's clear that Sony and Marvel are reaching some agreement to connect their separate franchises. With Spider-Man 3 potentially about to break the Multiverse wide open, it's the perfect opportunity to bridge the gap between Sony and Marvel. The latter studio also likely has a vested interest in intertwining the franchises - Tom Holland's Spider-Man is a crucial player in the MCU. His role is likely to grow. Kraven could find Peter Parker facing a new kind of villainy, and watching Reeves and Holland go head-to-head is an exciting prospect.
