Jordan Vogt-Roberts discussed Thomas Middleditch having a role in both Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Although not as successful as the MCU, the MonsterVerse has made over $1 billion worldwide across three films. The next film, Godzilla vs. Kong, is releasing later this year, bringing the two beasts together for the first time since 1962.

The two most famous monsters in popular culture were given new life thanks to Legendary Pictures. In 2014, audiences were dazzled when Godzilla destroyed the female MUTO at the end of Godzilla. Kong: Skull Island was also well received, delivering a new take on the King Kong mythos. Interestingly, in this continuity, both creatures are good guys, though have different connections to humanity. It will surely be a cinematic event when the two collide in November. One of the most prominent human characters in Godzilla: King of the Monsters is Sam Coleman, portrayed by Middleditch. Interestingly, the actor also had a very minor role in Kong: Skull Island, though many probably didn't realize until seeing his name in the credits.

Recently, Legendary Pictures began hosting online watch parties for the MonsterVerse movies. First was Godzilla 2014, with Gareth Edwards revealing fun facts, tidbits, and more. Yesterday, Legendary hosted the Kong: Skull Island watch party, with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts joining in to add some fun facts. In one tweet, the director revealed why Middleditch had a role in Kong: Skull Island.

In Kong: Skull Island, Middleditch makes a brief voice cameo when he calls Brie Larson's character. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Middleditch has a sizeable role as Coleman, a member of Monarch. He's seen during the opening act talking to the government about the titans, and remains a survivor throughout Ghidorah's rampage. Sadly, it doesn't appear the actor is returning for Godzilla vs. Kong.

Godzilla vs. Kong, despite being one of the bigger releases coming up, has been rather quiet. Warner Bros.' Dune appears to be getting more attention at the moment, even though that film is releasing one month later. Still, there hasn't been absolute silence on the movie. One star, Eiza Gonzalez, thinks fans will be "really happy," and there was the toy leak potentially revealing a new titan for the film. November is packed with movies now, though, with Disney's Soul even releasing the same day as the monster bash. Will Godzilla vs. Kong see another delay? Time will tell. Those wanting to join Legendary's live-tweeting watch party for Godzilla: King of the Monsters can do so on April 23.
