The Kominsky Method season 3 trailer answer some big questions, including addressing Alan Arkin's absence. The Netflix comedy-drama is helmed by famed sitcom creator Chuck Lorre, who is behind many hit shows such as Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, and Mom. The show stars Oscar winners Michael Douglas as Sandy Kominsky, a respected acting coach, and Alan Arkin as Norman Newlander, Sandy's agent and friend, while also starring Sarah Baker and Nancy Travis. The Kominsky Method explores the reality of aging and balances the fine line between humor and sorrow.

It was announced that the show's upcoming third season will be its last, with Oscar nominee Kathleen Turner returning as a main cast member, playing Sandy's ex-wife. But it has also been reported that Arkin would not be returning for the final season, leaving fans of the show to speculate how the series would handle his absence. Arkin's departure was decided when the show released its second season on Netflix back in October 2019, and the season ended on a open-ended storyline, with his character being interested in Scientology, due to his grandson, played by Oscar nominee Haley Joel Osment.

Now Netflix has released a trailer for the final season of The Kominsky Method, and it is revealed that Arkin's Norman Newlander has passed away, with Sandy and many others attending his funeral. The trailer also features the return of Osment, Lisa Edelstein, Graham Rogers, and Emily Osment as recurring characters, as well as special guest appearances by Morgan Freeman and Barry Levinson. The final season will consist of six episodes and its trailer and synopsis can be viewed below:

"Sandy Kominsky has to navigate what aging looks like without his longtime friend Norman Newlander by his side in the final season of The Kominsky Method. Life only becomes more complicated with the arrival of Sandy's ex-wife Roz Volander. The pair's famously volatile relationship is further inflamed when she comes to LA to spend time with their daughter Mindy and her boyfriend Martin. This season of The Kominsky Method deals with money, death, love, murder, and dreams coming true."

The trailer does not reveal how Alan Arkin's character passed, but the final season of the series will feel different as the past two seasons have centered around Sandy and Norman's friendship, where much of the show's hilarity comes from. However, it looks like Norman will still have a presence as there are some unfinished business within his family and friends. And it seems like Sandy will have a redemptive professional change in his life while trying to balance his personal relationships.

Even though The Kominsky Method has responded to a major question that fans have been wondering about for a long time, it opens the door to many more queries about what is coming next. In a final season that is two episodes shorter than its past seasons, it will be intriguing to see the buildup to the show's final moments and how The Kominsky Method comes to an end when the series releases on May 28.
