There is good news for viewers of Netflix's The Kominsky Method as the release date for season 3 has just been confirmed. The original comedy is created by famed TV writer, Chuck Lorre. Lorre has crafted numerous hits including the award-winning The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men. The Kominsky Method has been a critical darling for several years now and has won numerous awards of its own. The series debuted in 2018 and since then has won a Golden Globe in 2019 for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy. In that same year, one of the show's stars, Michael Douglas, also won a Golden Globe for his performance.

Following season 2, The Kominsky Method was in limbo for over six months. Netflix did not officially announce season 3 until July of 2020. However, the caveat that came with this announcement was that the show would only return for one final season. Douglas will be returning in season 3 to reprise his role as Sandy Kominsky. Other stars returning include Sarah Baker and Kathleen Turner. However, Alan Arkin, who played Kominsky's friend Norman Newlander won't be back. Arkin’s exit was planned ahead of time, and his character's departure will be addressed in season 3.

Now, The Wrap reports The Kominksy Method will return Friday, May 28 for its final season. Lisa Edelstein, Emily Osment, Graham Rogers, and Haley Joel Osment will all be back as guest-stars for the show's final run. Season 3 will be only six episodes long in comparison to seasons 1 and 2, which were both eight.

Per the logline, The Kominsky Method season 3 focuses on Kominsky as he explores what aging looks like. His longtime friend and agent Norman will not be with him, forcing Kominisky to navigate this new phase of his life alone. However, when his ex-wife Roz Volander (Turner) comes to Los Angeles to spend more time with her daughter Mindy (Baker) and her boyfriend Martin (Paul Reiser), his life becomes complicated. Their relationship has been notoriously troublesome, so her arrival further exacerbates the issues they have between them.

Critics and audiences alike have lauded The Kominsky Method's acting and writing for many years. Now that the show is coming to an end, audiences will finally get to see how these character's storylines will wrap up. Given the high praise the show has received, it will be interesting to see if season 3 of The Kominsky Method will take home more awards.
