XSEED Games and Marvelous USA, Inc. announced a new fitness game, Knockout Home Fitness, at E3; it features martial arts-inspired workouts and will be launching for the Nintendo Switch this fall. Nintendo has a history of having fitness-related games for its consoles, starting from the Wii, and some players still use these older games to stay active. The Switch is similarly offering a selection of fitness games, giving gamers the opportunity to stay active and entertained at the same time.

XSEED Games is a publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc. which is committed to producing games under the philosophy of "indie spirit, player-first." The company has steadily grown its reputation among gamers. During this year's E3 Expo, five announcements were included in its showcase, including Knockout Home Fitness, the first English trailer for Rune Factory 5, the launch date for Shadowverse: Champion's Battle, and the release of Rune Factory 4 Special and STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town on new platforms.

The goal of Knockout Home Fitness is to help users stick to a fitness routine and have fun doing it. "We all know how challenging it can be to stick to a fitness routine. With the fun martial arts-based workouts in Knockout Home Fitness, people can get an intense daily workout in around 15 minutes, helping keep motivation high so they keep coming back for more day after day,” said Kenji Hosoi, Executive Vice President of XSEED Games. The game features different types of workouts designed by experts to maximize calorie-burning in a short amount of time; these routines include boxing, Muay Thai, karate, and kung-fu.

Knockout Home Fitness has four key features which aim to pull in gamers who are interested in fitness. First, there are over 60 courses with moves based on the different martial arts styles for all fitness levels. The game also features four different personal trainers with different personalities and coaching styles, from friendly to strict, that will deliver customized routines daily to help the player achieve their personal goals. Next, players can track their progress and see how frequently and how long they are working out, as well as how many calories they burned. Lastly, players can choose workout modes that fit their schedule the best, including a three-minute mode that is high intensity or a daily routine that lasts about 15 minutes.

Working out is usually the opposite of what the general public thinks when they hear video games. However, Nintendo has consistently been working towards making fitness fun and entertaining while playing on its consoles. Knockout Home Fitness is bringing martial arts styles to a workout platform where gamers can learn the styles that they are used to seeing in video games, which will likely get some fans interested. Time will tell how high this interest is when Knockout Home Fitness releases this Fall.
