The first reactions to Rian Johnson's Knives Out are in and it's all praise for his murder mystery movie. After a few years of critically acclaimed indie films, Johnson popped onto the scene for many with Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The film was a huge hit with critics and at the box office but has remained a divisive film among some sections of Star Wars fans. Prior to hopping back into the galaxy far, far away though, Johnson returned to his roots as an original storyteller with Knives Out.

The movie was revealed to be in the works last year and quickly assembled an all-star cast. Daniel Craig plays the lead investigator of the film, with Chris Evans, Toni Collette, Michael Shannon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ana de Armas, and many more filling out the list of suspects. Anticipation for the movie has been high thanks to the collection of talent and funny trailers, and now the first reactions for Knives Out tease that audiences won't be disappointed.

Knives Out held its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (or TIFF for short) and those who saw the film are able to immediately share their reactions on social media. The response has been incredibly positive so far, and we've rounded up some of the best NON-SPOILER reactions. Check them out below:

Based on the flood of reactions for Knives Out, there are a few main takeaways that have everyone in agreement. The first is the story that Johnson has crafted is incredibly clever. After some surprising and subversive plots in his past work, it's no surprise that he delivered the same type of execution with his whodunit. The other big takeaway that audiences have is the cast delivering great performances across the board. With an array of talent at his disposal, it sounds like Johnson has delivered quite a few memorable turns. Craig, De Armas, Collette, Evans, and Christopher Plummer have each been mentioned as true standouts, giving audiences plenty of different performances to look forward to.

These solidify Knives Out as one of the top films of the fall season and one that many should rightfully be excited to check out. There's only two months left until the movie officially hits theaters, and it likely won't be long until a second trailer for the movie drops that includes some of this buzz. But, with the cleverness that many have teased, hopefully future marketing materials, reactions, and the eventual full reviews of Knives Out will be able to keep the surprises intact until November.
