The Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion, might have just inadvertently revealed who dies in its murder mystery plot. The whodunnit detective film was a smash hit with audiences in 2019, garnering enough attention for a much-desired sequel. Its riveting mystery plot and interesting characters kept viewers on the edge of their seats in anticipation and curiosity. The recent release of some cast images for Knives Out 2, however, may have accidentally spoiled that one particular cast member will possibly be killed in the new film.

Knives Out unravels the mystery behind the alleged suicide of family patriarch, Harlan Thrombey. The Thrombey family is far from the picture-perfect suburban American family, and it isn’t long before they realize that there was some foul play involved in the death of Harlan. Star detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, is brought onto the case. His demeanor and lyrical Southern drawl make him an undeniably charismatic detective, but it’s his strong skill set that helps him crack the case. The film features an array of stars, including Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Joseph-Gordan Levitt, and many more. Knives Out paved the way for Benoit Blanc to solve more mysteries, starting with the case in Glass Onion.

In a new cast photo, most of the characters are seated around a very long dining table in a tableau reminiscent of The Last Supper. Detective Benoit Blanc is at the head of the table, looking like he’s declaring something. At the other end of the table is Edward Norton, who is one of the new castmates for the film along with Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Ethan Hawke, and more. Many of the new cast members are seated at the table, but there is someone missing, which might reveal whose murder kicks off the plot of Knives Out 2.

Is Ethan Hawke's Character The Victim In Knives Out: Glass Onion?

Ethan Hawke is not part of the cast photo for Knives Out 2 and is nowhere to be seen at the dining table. The plot of the movie has yet to be revealed, with only a vague description of it being a mystery set in Greece. The only characters that seem to be returning are detective Benoit Blanc and Noah Segan’s character, Trooper Wagner. Even though the characters and plot are both relatively unknown, it’s odd that Ethan Hawke was not included in the image. Since the mystery of the sequel will ostensibly begin (and end) with murder, the absence of Ethan Hawke’s character in the assembled group photo hints that he just might be the murder victim in Glass Onion and it's his death that the characters have gathered to discuss.

Director and writer Rian Johnson wrote a fantastic story for Knives Out, and hopefully, Glass Onion will keep audiences enthralled with the new mystery he’s created. Even though the potential victim of Glass Onion might have been sleuthed out with the new cast photos, it’ll be great to see where the next film goes. If it's anything like the first Knives Out film, no matter who gets murdered, it will keep viewers guessing until the end.
