Rian Johnson has revealed the Knives Out 2 title. Plot details for the murder mystery sequel are currently unknown, though it is expected to follow Daniel Craig's eccentric private detective once again solving a case in the Mediterraneans. Joining Craig for Knives Out 2 are Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick, Ethan Hawke and previous star Noah Segan.

Development on Knives Out 2 began ahead of the first film's release, though wasn't confirmed until a few months after it became a critical and commercial smash with Lionsgate originally set to produce and distribute once again. The sequel would see a change in pace a year later as Johnson and producing partner Ram Bergman, who retained the rights to the property, put up two sequels for auction, with Netflix winning the heated bidding war with a reported $469 million purchase. Knives Out 2 would begin filming in mid-2021 and now audiences are eagerly awaiting news of the film.

Johnson's title reveal came just an hour after the filmmaker responded to a fan's request for the Knives Out 2 title with a cryptic post of Peggy Lee's "A Good Day." In the reveal thread, Johnson explained his biggest inspiration for the sequel and the Knives Out franchise to be Agatha Christie, describing her ability to deliver a variety of genres under her whodunnit banner, including "spy thrillers, proto-slasher horrors." Given Johnson cites the various subgenres as inspirations for Knives Out 2 and the description for the film only explaining Craig's Benoit Blanc as investigating a mystery, it seems possible the eccentric private detective won't be investigating another murder but something different.

In addition to the title, Netflix and Johnson confirmed that Knives Out 2 is set to premiere this holiday season, pointing towards a November or December release. This could see the sequel arrive in theaters and Netflix in time for Knives Out's three-year anniversary, where it scored a major $311 million haul and garnered three Golden Globe nominations and one Oscar nomination. With Johnson teasing plenty more reveals to come in the near future, audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled for a proper release date and trailer for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery soon.
