The first Knives Out 2 movie footage is released for writer-director Rian Johnson's upcoming Netflix sequel. The first Knives Out movie, released theatrically by Lionsgate in 2019, was a huge success for Johnson, with his whodunnit mystery flick making $311.4 million on a $40 million budget. The Knives Out movie reviews were also overall glowing, with critics and casual moviegoers alike enjoying the twisty nature of the film. As such, it came as little surprise when Johnson revealed he was working on a sequel. Netflix later struck a deal to release both Knives Out 2 and Knives Out 3, with filming on the sequel taking place in Summer 2021.

Knives Out 2 sees the return of Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc, the gentleman detective with a Southern drawl who won over audiences with his unique approach to solving mysteries. In the sequel, Craig is joined by an all new cast in Knives Out 2 that includes Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline and Ethan Hawke. Although little about the plot or the other characters is known, Knives Out 2 will be set in the Mediterranean, with part of the production taking place outside of Greece. Now a first look at footage from the movie has been revealed.

In Netflix's 2022 movie preview trailer, the streamer includes footage from 28 films set to release this year - including Johnson's sequel. The Knives Out 2 footage is located at the end of the trailer below, around the 2:33 mark. There isn't much footage, but the Knives Out 2 video does include a look at Craig's return as Benoit Blanc, as it seems he's about to board a boat behind six people, who will no doubt be suspects of whatever crime he's investigating. From left to right, the stars in the shot are: Craig, Hahn, Henwick, Hudson, Odom Jr., Cline and Bautista. Watch the Knives Out 2 footage below.

The first Knives Out 2 footage doesn't reveal much aside from part of the cast, their costumes and the Mediterranean setting. In fact, Knives Out 2 set photos that surfaced during production seemed to depict the filming of this particular scene. However, it's a first official look at Knives Out 2, which is exciting on its own. Additionally, the way the footage is shot showcases Johnson's particular directorial eye, which helps this short clip preview the movie's style, giving viewers an idea of what to expect. It's a very brief teaser for Knives Out 2, but it's effective in ramping up anticipation for the movie's release.

Since Knives Out 2 is expected to release in Fall 2022, it may be some time before the first official teaser trailer is revealed. Netflix typically doesn't start promoting a movie until much closer to its release date. However, with Knives Out 2 expected to release theatrically, after premiering at one of this year's film festivals, it'll likely get a bigger push than the standard Netflix movie. That means the Knives Out 2 trailer could debut as soon as this summer. More about the movie will no doubt be revealed as the Knives Out 2 release window gets closer. For now, the first Knives Out 2 movie footage serves to build up the hype for Craig's return as Benoit Blanc.
