A new Saturday Night Live promo features Kit Harington acting out Leslie Jones’ Game of Thrones fantasies. Ahead of a new episode, the NBC series references the fan culture surrounding HBO’s game-changing drama, along with iconic moments from classic episodes. Game of Thrones season 8 premieres in just under two weeks.

On Game of Thrones, Harington portrays the protagonist Jon Snow. As the outcast member of House Stark, the character chooses to create his own legacy by dedicating his life to the Night’s Watch, a group of men who look over the Seven Kingdoms by protecting a massive structure known as The Wall. Meanwhile, Jon Snow's half-brothers and half-sisters attempt to defend the legacy of House Stark, along with their deceased parents, Ned and Catelyn Stark. In Game of Thrones, Jon Snow is depicted as an honorable yet misunderstood character, one who's literally murdered by his comrades before returning from the dead to become the “King in the North.” When Game of Thrones season 8 begins, Jon Snow will seek to defend all humanity against the villain known as the Night King, along with his Army of the Dead.

Recently, Saturday Night Live released a new promo for Harington’s hosting gig, in which cast member Jones plays out her Game of Thrones fantasies. Early on, Jones portrays a popular yet tragic Game of Thrones character named Hodor, with the joke being that she’s just playing around on the Saturday Night Live set. She also repeats the famous Game of Thrones line “Hold the Door,” a reference to the character’s name and origin story. When Harington first appears, it’s not in the flesh, but rather as an action figure, just one of many toys - including troll dolls - that Jones has assembled for an audience. As the clip progresses, Jones recreates the Night King’s destruction of The Wall, along with an Iron Throne sequence in which real-life Harington expresses his concern. Ultimately, Harington agrees to Jones’ fantasy, and inadvertently steps into the shoes of Game of Thrones’ Cersei Lannister by recreating the infamous walk of shame depicted in a classic Game of Thrones season 5 episode. This weekend, Sara Bareilles will be the featured musical guest on Saturday Night Live. In April 2018, she portrayed Mary Magdalene in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, an adaptation of the original 1970 film. Over the past 10 years, Bareilles has received seven Grammy Award nominations, all the while establishing a career in film, television, and theatre. This week, Bareilles will release her sixth studio album, Amidst the Chaos, fueled by the lead singles “Armor” and Fire.”

Since Game of Thrones’ fans are more than familiar with the soft-spoken Jon Snow, it'll be fun to see Kit Harington let loose and show off his comedic chops. After all, the English’s actor’s filmography is relatively small compared to some of his HBO castmates, so he’ll need to fully immerse himself in the experience to not only entertain the Saturday Night Live audience and a world of viewers, but also to show that he can be more than just Jon Snow
