A new image from The Kissing Booth 3 reunites BFFs Elle and Lee, proving even the end of high school can't keep them apart. Netflix's hit YA romcom series will come to an end this summer with its third and final installment. The Kissing Booth franchise first began in 2018 and, despite mixed critical reviews, became a major success with young audiences. The sequel followed just last summer, with The Kissing Booth 3 being announced during its first weekend. The entire original cast is expected to return, as is director Vince Marcello.
The Kissing Booth 2 ended with Elle (Joey King) and her friends graduating from high school and setting their sights on college. However, there was a bit of a cliffhanger: Elle has to decide whether to attend UC Berkeley with Lee (Joel Courtney), or head to Harvard with boyfriend Noah (Jacob Elordi). Additionally, she has another suitor competing for her affections in Taylor Zakhar Perez's Marco, and though she chose Noah in The Kissing Booth 2, Marco doesn't seem to be giving up just yet.
Plot details for The Kissing Booth 3 are still being kept under wraps, though a handful of first look images have debuted online in recent weeks. The latest comes from USA Today's summer movie preview and shows Elle and Lee goofing off together in the way only two besties can. At this point in time, there's no sign of drama. Their outfits seem to confirm The Kissing Booth 3 is set during the summer, so Elle's college destination might still be up in the air at the start of the film. Should she opt to go to Harvard to be with Noah, Lee probably won't be looking quite so happy. Much of the drama from the first Kissing Booth revolved around Lee's dislike of Elle and Noah's relationship, and though he has changed his mind, he likely won't be thrilled to hear his best friend wants to go elsewhere for school.
The Kissing Booth 3 will debut in August on Netflix, and fans are now impatiently waiting for a trailer. Netflix typically opts to wait until closer to a movie's release to push out trailers, though The Kissing Booth 3 has received a lot of attention over the past few weeks with the new images and release date confirmation. At this point, a trailer could arrive at any time; hopefully it will be soon so fans can get an idea of which side of the country Elle will be spending her college years.
