A new piece of fan art has merged concepts from the upcoming Kirby and the Forgotten Land and the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man films into one hilarious Mouthful Mode meme. Since the reveal of Kirby's next 3D adventure, the internet has been running wild with an assortment of unique memes and illustrations, something which has only been bolstered with the recent reveal of new gameplay mechanics.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be the next solo adventure for the rotund, pink hero, and the first proper 3D game in his series; prior to this, all Kirby games have been classic side-scrollers, with the exception of the Mario Kart-inspired Kirby Air Ride. One of the most talked-about additions to The Forgotten Land is Mouthful Mode, which is an ability that lets Kirby consume inanimate objects, take on their shape, and utilize their properties in a way that appears physics-based. In a recent trailer showcasing the mechanics of the game, Kirby can be seen swallowing a car, vending machine, and more. Spider-Man fans might note the pink creature's uncanny consumption ability and compare it to the Symbiotes, a parasitic alien species that latches onto Spider-Man to give him enhanced abilities while poisoning his mind.

Twitter user ksio is one such fan, evidenced by a Kirby and Spider-Man meme they recently shared online. The humorous image depicts Spider-Man in his classic 2002-2007 movie costume looking down at his hand as a gooey, voracious substance is spreading across his body. In the original promotional image, this substance would be the jet-black symbiote, but for the purposes of this meme, black has become pink, complete with Kirby's unmistakable cartoon eyes and rosy cheeks. To top it all off, the spoof poster is emblazoned with the letter "K" in the iconic font of the three Raimi movies.

There's something to be said about how similar Kirby and the Forgotten Land's new ability is to the Symbiotes'. Both of these mysterious, non-verbal creatures can consume a host to achieve their own goals, all the while enhancing the abilities and properties of that host. Of course, the obvious difference between these characters is the fact that Kirby's Mouthful ability only appears to apply to inanimate objects rather than living beings.

The same cannot be said for Kirby's other, more traditional powers, though. When he consumes a creature to absorb its power, that creature will, more often than not, simply get obliterated. In this way, the adorable pink ball might be even more menacing than Spider-Man's Symbiotes. Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be darker in tone than previous games in the series, meaning fans will have to wait until launch to find out for sure.
