Nintendo has announced that Kirby and the Forgotten Land will launch in March, and will feature co-op gameplay with the other player taking control of Bandana Waddle Dee. The upcoming platformer Kirby and the Forgotten Land is due to launch on Nintendo Switch and has already seen fans favorably comparing it to Super Mario Odyssey due to its impressive visuals and more open-world design than previous Kirby entries.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land was accidentally leaked by Nintendo, prior to a Nintendo Direct presentation reveal in September last year. The initial trailer showed Kirby exploring a ruined civilization, not unlike a post-apocalyptic Earth, and drew comparisons to other post-apocalyptic games like The Last of Us, as well as open-world titles like Zelda: Breath of the WildKirby and the Forgotten Land is poised to be one of Nintendo's biggest games of 2022, with fans eager to learn more about the latest Kirby adventure.

A new trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land was uploaded to the official Nintendo YouTube channel, revealing a new look at the game. The biggest announcement in the trailer is the release date, as Kirby and the Forgotten Land will launch on March 25, 2022. It was also revealed that the game will feature co-op, with the other player taking on the role of Bandana Waddle Dee, who lacks Kirby's Copy ability, but who can throw a mean spear. The official Kirby and the Forgotten Land website has confirmed that the game is couch co-op only.

The story of Kirby and the Forgotten Land involves Kirby arriving in an unknown land, where the villainous Beast Pack has been kidnapping Waddle Dees. Kirby teams up with a creature called Elfilin, as they try to free the Waddle Dees. Kirby and the Forgotten Land features Waddle Dee Town and freeing Waddle Dees in the levels will unlock new shops and minigames. The new Kirby game has an online component, but it seems to be limited to scoreboards at the moment.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks like it could be Kirby's most incredible adventure yet, and it won't be long until fans have the game in their hands. One somewhat surprising aspect of the trailer is that Kirby is packing heat, as Kirby now has a blunderbuss gun, part of the Ranger power-up that resembles the kind of weapon used by an old-timey hunter. Seeing the weapon in action is somewhat surreal, even if done in a cartoonish way, though it was previously revealed in a recent ESRB rating that Kirby would use a gun in the upcoming game. It's also strange seeing Kirby in a gloomy castle in the trailer, as it looks like he took a wrong turn, and ended up in the Painted World of Ariamas from Dark Souls. With the release date fast approaching, it won't be long until fans find out more.
